View Full Version : The Next Tanner Gun Show in Denver
I 'm wondering how busy the next gun show will be at the Denver Merchandise Mart. The last show was so bad there were more vendors than customers I think.
What say you?
They still have Tanner shows?

Panic buying is probably over. People either have what they need, are out of cash or maxed their credit cards. I might hit up Arapahoe fairgrounds this weekend just because it's 3 miles away.

Do you think they'll have any mags available? Oh... wait.... Is there much point in going to the shows anymore? Seems just as easy to buy stuff from a gun shoppe.

I go because you get to comparison shop very easily. You can walk around for an hour and get lots of prices on the gun you are looking for. It would take a full day of driving around to do the same.

I would say that it is due to market saturation and buyer fatigue. Also, there is a growing sense of complacency among the "panic ninnies", from what I can gather from my limited interaction with some of them (co-workers, casual friends, etc.). I think Dave was on the right track, also, with his financial assessment statement in his post above.
I guess if I start to run low on candles, jewelry and jerky, I might have to hit up the next one

ETA: Although there is growing complacency, they are still searching for, and grousing about, the dearth of reliable sources of .22lr, like so many of the rest of us.

Good, maybe now the vendors will get realistic with their pricing.

I could use a couple shield 9mm mags, but I'm sure there will be none at a reasonable price..

The Shield ones are pretty spendy to begin with.
I'm curious to see what they have for powder.

Yeah, hard to justify paying the price for what they are.

Well, I may have to swing by and say hello. Especially if Randy is right about it not being very crowded.

Alright. I've been to a few shows besides Tanner and they've always been shotguns shotguns shotguns, or old expensive surplus junk. I'll probably hit up Tanner next week.

Stop and say hi if you make it.
We're usually right across from Randy (R&S) in a cut through next to Ammo Kan. I'll hang a couple COAR logo printouts on the overhead.
I think I'll only be going Saturday, just helping out some friends at their table.
I'll be there too helping my friend out.
I will say that I've found some deals there prior to the whole panic thing. I once picked up an FNH FiveSeven with 250 rounds for 750 bucks... There was a seller (who is no longer there) Shooter's Instinct, that sold new Glocks and Sigs for less than anyone else there and didn't charge to do the background check....
I was gonna say, I think with things slowing down in the general market maybe prices will come down, but I remember, again, a few years ago, when there was no panic, prices in general weren't all that great regardless of how few people were at the show....

Yup - good deals there sometimes. I got a case of HST 9mm for .42/round from 303 Arms - much better than you can find on the internet. Heck, some people charge more than that for plain ol ball...
Might show up Sunday morning to see what there is. New guy at work is looking for a Rem 870 or a Moss 500 for home defense.

Good to know, I could use some more 9mm HST

I am in row 11 on the north side, I have both 870s and Moss 500 including the "chainsaw". I would like to think I have fair prices and better than most. send me a PM if you want a quote.
AR_ART got a few great deals from me...

Like I said, right across from Randy to the North. Me and my good friend Gilbert will be manning the tables.
turns out im not gonna make it out to this one .
kinda slow here
Sounds like a good day to go look around. Maybe buy some candles or some jerky or something.
I think all the idiots that usually frequent the shows are at Cabelas.

Seemed sorta busy from the parking lot.
Saw one AR magazine "parts kit" vendor.
Prices are still astronomical.
The Star-Spangled Banner was a little odd.

Weird. I've been going since 2009 and that was a first.

Guess you've never been there at noon. Every show, both days. Hard not to punch the shitbags who keep shopping/wandering obliviously.

I was helping a Brit (at noon) with the Star Spangled Banner started playing, he stopped put his hand over his heart and showed respect to the flag like everyone else (around my tables).

Props to him. Most people do stop, but it still surprises me, at the number of people who don't take the time to remove their hat/cover/lid/(insert your nomenclature for it here). Flag ettiquette (sp?) used to be a given, but anymore you're lucky to find a flag displayed facing the right way, when it's displayed at all. Just my little rant.

I feel the same way at sporting events where people feel they have to use the time to get their beer and hot dogs, or yell and make noise with their buddies.
sold a few guns and stuff - met a couple of the guys and that was the best part of the day - thank you gentlemen
ar prices are down, ammo is down around 60 cents for 556 which is still too much but i think the days of 36 cent 556 are over
308 mil surp is still listed at a buck a round but it wasn't selling so just matter of time before it comes down
22lr for fed bulk pack ranged from 50 to 65 a box - triple the walmart price and it wasn't moving so that has to come down more - guys on armslist are trying for 40 a box iirc
powder is scarce, primers can be had for 33 per thousand winchester so that is good, doubt we'll see primers under 30 per thousand ever again
a general question for some vendors who aren't in this thread or on this board as far as i know, did you price your items to sell or to keep b/c alot of you are going home with the same truckload you came with and you're out money for your tables, hotel, meals, gas, and time - better luck next time

Something came up as I recall and he was not at the show - at least not in his usual spot or that I saw anywhere when I wandered a bit.
I swore I was not spending money at the show, but after my friend paid me for some ammo I picked up for him, I bought a $32 AK Lula.

The only thing I bought was one of those shirts with the CO flag made up of guns. Sweet design.
I'd go there to sell/swap my FAL but I doubt I'd get what it's worth since I can't legally throw in the magazines. If I don't end up keeping it, I guess I'll just sell it out of state on Gunbroker or something.

Anybody aware of which vendors/ffl's at the show will do pp/pp transfers. And of course what they are charging.

PP/PP transfers at a gun show have required a background check for quite a few years now. I'm sure it won't be a problem. Those people up front by the entrance usually do the background checks.
Crowd wasn't bad today. Took a coworker and he grabbed a Mossberg 500 cruiser for home defense and some low recoil buckshot rounds. Seems like half the vendors still think they can charge the same prices on ammo and AR's as they did in Feb. Almost bought a DPMS .308 rifle, $900 for the 20" Oracle. My card was screaming at me that I had it paid off.

I wanted to go today. Just couldn't get anyone to go with me.
Picked up a tan Safariland 6004 drop leg holster for an M9 for $50.00, others at the show had the same holster for $140.00. Couldn't find an XM177 stock though, still looking.
it's amazing the number of folks that didn't know about the Springfield XDS recall, of course my XDS inventory is getting fixed
KellyTTE;1346373]Robb does it HAVE to be an aluminum one or would an actual Colt polymer/nylon on work? Because I do have one.

I went to the Tanner show the weekend before the magazine ban took affect. Other than that it was about 5 years since the last one I attended. I didnt see anything that I couldnt get from local shops at a cheaper price. Will probably be 5 years before I go back.
