So plenty of safe threads out there but I looked through: http://www.ar-15.co/threads/110751-Talk-to-me-about-big-ol-gun-safes?highlight=gun+safe and really didn't find what I'm looking for.

Due to a recent move, my gun safe is in a spare bedroom as I like to keep the home defense stuff nearby. However, with most the unpacking almost complete, I need to move it down to the basement. But, I still want the HD heavy artillery near the MBR. I have a good size MBR closet but not big enough for the safe.
So, what I'm looking for is a 2-4 long-gun safe that can accommodate the AR having the 30 rounder in.
I saw that small barska safe and while it looked interesting, it also looked gimmicky. Whats worse is I read that someone couldn't fit an AR with a 30 round mag into the safe so that's out.
Any options out there with a keypad entry, that can hold an AR, loaded, maybe the HD shotgun and handgun? While I would like for a good fire rating as a nicety, it's not a priority. Just need something I can bolt into the floor and is close by. I really don't like leaving the HD weapons unlocked while I"m away and I'm not going to play musical guns every time I come home. Likewise, having to run down two flights of stairs to the basement to get to the safe isn't going to work either.

Thanks...

What about that "clamper downer" kinda gun secure'er .

Wall safe might work for ya... Won't have any fire rating at all though... Plus, all it's good for is kiddos. Not thieves.

have you looked at the tacvault?

http://www.gunvault.com/gun-safes/tac-vault.html

i don't know if it'd accommodate the 30 rounder, though

There is this: http://bedgunsafe.com/

and this: http://www.amsecusa.com/Defense_Vault/ can be bolted down under bed

Do you own or rent? If you own, get the saw out and install one of these (http://www.vlineind.com/ProductDetail.php?product_id=32) in the wall between the studs (then you don't loose too much closet space either).

Cut out the wall, and hang a full length mirror using door hinges and magnetic cabinet closure. Won't be secure, but is easily accessible and unlikely to be found.

A spec makes a nice under bed drawer safe

I've been looking at one of those for a while. Seems like there's a big difference between the cheap wallsafes and the "nicer" model like the one you linked. Anybody actually have one? That's what I was looking at for a closet safe...

For added fun AND security, put in a wall safe and then hang a mirror over it!

Wife unit has authorized purchase of one of these....
http://tacticalwalls.com/shop/1450-bundle/

2 birds/one stone type of deal. She gets a fill size mirror, and somewhat secure access to her rifle and pistol.

I get a "hidden storage" thing to brag to my friends about.

No offense intended, but if you brag to your friends about it, you could be compromising the security of it and making the whole thing worthless.

Agreed with Badger, but I know what you mean. If you can't trust your closest friends, they shouldn't be your friends. I like the price on the mirror unit and my wife also likes the mirror. Probably because there is a lot less security though.

I'm sorry, but I'm having a hard time understanding why something like that costs $600+

i bet there are several members here that could fabricate something similar for under $200

Be sure to start a thread on the install and tell us how you like it

No offense taken.

When I say friend, I guess I should have prefaced with really good, really close friends. The kind that won't bail you out of jail......because he's sitting in jail with you type.

I've got my finance manager convinced that we need a tactical wall setup. Now we just need the funds.
