I'm thinking about taking my Nikon P-223 off my AR for a little while, and putting it on my Winchester 94AE .44 Mag. carbine, just for a little short-range use. Does anybody know if that scope would be OK with the heavier recoil of the .44 mag? It's the little 3x32 model, should be dandy for <100yd. deer use if the recoil won't kill it.

I have no idea but a scope on a Winchester LA, uugh, shiver ...

Irons should be good at that range.

Just a temporary thing, the receiver's already D&T'd from the factory. I don't plan to leave it on there long. I have scopes and rings, and Redfield mounts for it are under $10, so WTH not?

Irons, yes. Old eyes, not as dependable.

Point taken, especially if you're near-sighted.

I was just kidding, I know the AE was designed to take a scope for us old eyes traditionalists that like lever guns.

VERY near-sighted!

So, anybody know how tough these little Nikons are?

There's no indicator from Nikon that it would be an issue.

Use
Centerfire Short/Mid Range
AR (Modern Sporting Rifle)
I would think there might be more of an issue if you tried to mount it on a revolver. The 94AE should reduce the recoil impulse.

Much grass, amigo! That's what they said on another forum as well, and that the AR has 2-way recoil with the bolt slamming back into battery. This scope is made for AR's, so it should handle the Winny just fine! So that's a consensus IMO, and onto the Winny the Nikon shall go.

Thanks!
