Is that intercooler I see peeking behind the bumper? Got more details on it?

Looks like a VR4 Galant (factory turbo 4g63, all-wheel drive for those that don't know)? It's been awhile for me. I knew what you were talking about. Amazing there have been this many responses without a single reference to crankwalk yet.

Also aware on DSM. I wouldn't mind building an old Laser.

Is that intercooler I see peeking behind the bumper? Got more details on it?

That it is!

Its an 89' Eagle Summit sedan (same as Mits Mirage)

4G61T (1.6L) its a bastard motor, 1.6 NA bottom end, 4G61T head, 2.0 cams.
Front Mount
DSM link
Walbro 225
1100CC injectors
MBC
Wide band 02
2.0 DSM cams
E85 tune

Dynoed at 243/248
Weighs 2380lbs

Only other performance mods are a push button black box for selecting gears and the blue wire mod to up the line pressure in the trans.
I have never been more impressed with an auto trans in my life this thing lays it down hard.

Going to redo the intercooler piping and exhaust, maybe move up to a 16G and re tune. Should be able to squeeze 300+ out of the 1.6 with out much trouble.

2nd gens were more prone to that (previous owner here MY99 GSX). The 1g's had beefier mains.

Thanks! Not a GVR4 though, see specs above.

Definitely sleeper status, especially once I get a quieter exhaust on it.

I may be a "kid" compared to some around here, but I still jam Pink Floyd [Flower]

You ever get those model year plates on your Pontiac, Jerry?

Oh, I never clicked the thumbnails. Reminds me of an old friend's Colt. Stock 4G63 and moved out HARD on my 20g fed GSX...from a roll ;)

I cut my teeth in a 95 GST back in the late 90's.

Ported big 16G, front mount, AFC and etc. that car was a lot of fun but it was a money pit. I grew up and picked up an extra 4 cylinders although there's a part of me that really wants to drop 2 of those cylinders and get a new GTR.

Haha, I was shocked at how little it drips actually. The dipstick is hooked to keep it from blowing out :D

Its true, thats the disadvantage of fwd, and especially this setup being auto. There is really no way to leave fast, with the stock converter it wont stall for anything..
With this being a 1.6l it doesn't share the same trans as a 2.0 the bell housing is smaller I believe. So I'm pretty much stuck with what Ive got until I blow this up and swap to a 4G63.

I'm going to mess around with the Anti Lag in DSM link and see if I can set it low enough to build some boost with out making the trans sad..

Couple people on the Internet have swapped AWD from Eclipse/Talon on to these cars. www.lilevo.com (http://www.lilevo.com) did a nice job.
If the rest of it holds together, that may be in this cars future.

Did you ever get all of your Jeep work done? We have a wheeling trip coming up in a few weeks...get enough mods done to your new ride and it can tow your Jeep to the hills!

Didn't get all of it done.. I was going to get bumpers, sliders and a winch but then I couldn't leave that little red DSM after I drove it :D

The Jeep is in one piece, made it up Eagle Rock a couple weekends ago with out anything falling off. You can see its parked next to the red car in the first post.
Ill check the wheeling pics thread for the details on the run.
EDIT: Ill check back for a FIRM date and time!

I saw it in the pic and that sparked my curiosity about its current state. It has now been firmed up just how you like it. [fag]No Homo. Looks like it's going down on Sunday the 29th. Meet at the trailhead at 11 or wherever we would like to meet. You in?

I just can't get into this thread. I'm more about big monster diesels blowing some serious coal out twin stacks that will smoke most of the aforementioned cars!

John Shepherd was the big DSM guy back in the day. Is he still around? I don't think this video is him, but was the quickest one I could find on short notice.

Diesels sure have come a long way since DSMs were the big deal.

Nope, timing belts. [LOL]

Sucks too since the 4G63 is an interference motor. Ask me how I know. Better yet, don't. [Bang]

I should say so. Nice looking Eclipse! How is/was it setup?

Diesels are cool. I almost bought a 04.5 Cummins crew cab short bed 6 months ago. But, I'm glad I restrained myself and bought a house instead of getting a car note again.

Once I'm ballin it up a little more Ill need an oil burner to pull the little red car and Cherokee around with ;)

Haha, busted..

12v mechanical cummins is the truck to have in my opinion. Dirt simple, no computers to break, its a winner.
But like you said, no CC that year and the extended cab wouldn't be ideal for car seats. That and their still a pretty penny used.

I'm getting a camera system for the house here pretty quick. That way I can tell anyone showing up with a pizza I didn't order to f off from well inside the house ;)
