Way beyond them wanting to take away 80% lowers to better protect our children (that is the stated reason for the bill), H.R. 2910 goes into depth about removing the ability to obtain replacement parts.

It's worded very craftily, and mixes between fully automatic, Automatic Assault, Semi-Auto assault, shotguns, etc., but the takeaway is that if passed as is, it would virtually eliminate your ability to obtain parts to repair almost any semi-automatic rifle, carbine, pistol, or shotgun. "to protect the children"

This bill was introduced early last month by....wait for it......Henry Waxman (D-CA).

Here's an article about it. http://freedomoutpost.com/2013/08/new-bill-would-ban-ar-15-receivers-barrels-and-any-necessary-parts-to-assemble-a-semi-automatic-firearm/

Here's a link to the bill itself. I actually read through it. Pisses me off. http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/hr2910/text

Sheesh.

Cant these people focus on something important like lowering the unemployment rate or reducing crime or something?

Seriously. I know that some of the much higher-up "men behind the men" have a 40 year plan and something to gain by disarming the populace. But do the Reids, Feinsteins, and Waxmans really have something to gain? And surely they don't really take guns this personally. As best as I can tell, they just LOVE being able to say "I took a stand against guns" to boost their ego. The high of their constituents support, maybe. They like to be in the news and be adored for "having values".

I really doubt this will even make it to the full house however we need to keep the majority in the house or the D's will go full retard just like they did in Colorado this year.

Govtrack gave Feinstein's AWB 60% chance of getting out of committee, 15% chance of passing Congress

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/113/hr2910

It gives Waxman's bill 0% chance of getting out of committee.
