This is a pretty damning article regarding the Republican Party's lack of support for the recall.

http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_24154289/colorado-recalls-organizers-say-state-gop-scoffed-at

“At a gathering of county Republicans inside a Pueblo public library in June, organizers behind the effort to recall Democratic Sen. Angela Giron met for the first time with the leader of Colorado's GOP.

They were confident, but the private conversation with Chairman Ryan Call did not go well.
He scoffed at us. He told us we didn't have a shot at getting the recall signatures certified and that what we were doing was just wrong," said Victor Head, a Republican and leader of the group, Pueblo Freedom and Rights, which took the initial steps to have Giron recalled."

The day after the b.s. laws passed, I called the Colorado Republican office in regards to recalling Fields. Never heard a damn thing back from them.

So the CO GOP was like RMGO?

This is my surprised face. There are no parties anymore, it's us and them...

IIRC, the state GOP thought the recall efforts would fail and were afraid that very failure would embolden the Dems to get even more aggressive and extreme. That's the same reason the NRA and NARAL (to pick opposite ends of the political spectrum) are both afraid of lawsuits going forward that aren't GUARANTEED winners -- a failed attempt may be more damaging than not doing anything at all. In the end, I think it worked for us just as NRA not getting involved until the last month worked because it deflated the charges that these recalls were partisan (absolutely not) or a front for the NRA. More than a few people I talked to got a lot more interested when I said neither the GOP nor NRA were sponsors or significantly involved (until about one month before the election).

The GOP and NRA might have wanted to get involved but realized their involvement early on would be a negative; I don't know, I'm not a mindreader. I will say someone managed to put us in contact with veterans of the Wisconsin recall effort which gave us some insights in the period between the petition collections and the election. In addition, IACE and AFP were both a great help; they might not be the GOP per se but they have extensive mutual contacts.

The GOP is not the enemy however much some of you want to perceive them as one. They may have differences of opinion on strategy or tactics or priorities but realize in the end we all want a free society.

Keep in mind that the Denver Post is an organ of the Democrat party (like most of the MSM). So they have a vested interest in destroying the GOP, conservationism and libertarianism and will lie and spin to make thing look worse for the GOP than they are.

As for the recall, there is some scuttlebutt going around that the CO GOP (and to a lesser extent the NRA) stayed out of the recall efforts in order to prevent the recalls from being attacked as nothing more than GOP politicking (although the NRA did enter the fray once it was clear that Bloomberg was bankrolling the Dems).

That said, there is a dirth of leadership within the GOP (especially here in CO).

So the CO GOP was like RMGO?

"Dudley Brown, executive director of Rocky Mountain Gun Owners — the state's most powerful anti-gun control group — had advised against the recalls, saying it would be better to focus on the 2014 elections."

I don't condone it, but I see it as a calculation. The district was HIGHLY Democratic. It was a long shot that tapped into something that most people did not know was there.

I also agree with Sellerism... both parties are not here for their voters. They serve money and if you don't have large amounts of it... they don't care.

Or maybe they feared a successful recall effort, since they could be subjected to it in the future, also.

But, hopefully it was just strategy on their part.

There is a concerted effort by the lib media to divide, and therefore conquer, the GOP. Any opportunity to try to make hay this that they are going to grab onto, even if the substance or underlying motivations are not as the lib media says they are.

I hope the next recall works too. I think we out here in Colorado are sending a very important message to the nation. Gun control will cost elections [Beer]

If they listening to and do what the people want than they should have nothing to worry about.

LOL......they only do what is best for them, nothing else. As another member said, it's us vs. them. The only reason I even support the GOP is because the Democraps are %187 worse!

I call B.S.

The republicans want a society that they call 'free' but in reality they make all the rules and are treated special.
The democrats want a society that they call 'free' but in reality they make all the rules and are treated special.

There is no difference between the republican leadership and the democratic leadership. It won't change until "We the People" decide we want it to change - and do something about it.

Instant Run Off Voting... because settling for a system where there are only 2 choices is not doing honor to the constitution or anyone who fought for our freedom. Time to end the two party dictatorship. Left or Right... no one wins when we are forced to vote for a Giant Douche or a Turd Sandwich.' Dems suck.... Repubs suck

I don't know if they stayed out intentionally and strategically because they were thinking that way or we just lucked out but I do believe it worked out that way. There were a lot of people signing the petition or voting for recall who would not have if they'd had any evidence it was a GOP or NRA front operation.
