You know our country is flushing down the toilet when Americans are fleeing to Mexico to find a way to make a living. Highlight I loved from this article.

"The shift with Mexico’s northern neighbor is especially stark. Americans now make up more than three-quarters of Mexico’s roughly one million documented foreigners, up from around two-thirds in 2000, leading to a historic milestone: more Americans have been added to the population of Mexico over the past few years than Mexicans have been added to the population of the United States, according to government data in both nations.
Mexican migration to the United States has reached an equilibrium, with about as many Mexicans moving north from 2005 to 2010 as those returning south. The number of Americans legally living and working in Mexico grew to more than 70,000 in 2012 from 60,000 in 2009, a number that does not include many students and retirees, those on tourist visas or the roughly 350,000 American children who have arrived since 2005 with their Mexican parents."

Nice comparison of Americans to Mexicans. Notice the difference? No reference to legal, documented, etc. in the descrip of the Mexicans in America, only to Americans in Mexico. Are we to infer that all those Mexicans in America are "documented foreigners...legally living and working in..." America? Thank you, liberal media.

Big deal. My understanding of the article is they're referring to legal immigrants. Personally, I don't know anyone in the US who is anti-legal immigrant.

I don't see them being excluded from much around here.

I am not making any sort of legal vs illegal point about anything. I think illegal immigration is a problem because of the distortions it brings to the labor market.

I think there is something here to look at regardless of legal or illegal. Its very scary to me that our country has reached that level where MEXICO... the crap hole that it is, is offering more economic prosperity for some Americans.

I don't think anyone was calling you out nynco. Mostly just making statements about the content.

Sorry Crays... I just get piled on a lot sometimes and I can be a little too defensive. Thank you for the positive reply.

I just had to make the distinction due to this:

That's not just from Mexico though.

As far as people moving to work or live.
Retirees moving down there is not uncommon and as more people get older that should increase.
I can see there being a demand for some professions everywhere and if demand is high enough it can be a better deal to goto a different country.

good quote from that AJ link that sort of reinforces your point:

"Labor demand in the U.S. is still slack and wages are eroding, whereas there are jobs in Mexico, and wages are slowly rising as labor force growth there decelerates," Massey told the AP. "The pressures for mass migration are diminishing for now."
Although immigrants point to the U.S. economy as a major incentive, economic prosperity does not explain the demographics of the undocumented immigrant population.

Its a sign of the times when the resident liberal on the board even starts pointing out how bad things are, lol. Sorry nynco, just had to poke the bear a lil.

Oh I know its bad... Its been bad for a decade now. I knew it was bad 3 years before the crash. I think a lot of the people who are fleeing to Mexico are kids who don't want to be slaves for life to unconstitutional student loan debt.

Is a US citizen legally permitted to own real property outright in Mexico? I know that in some countries legal residents are required to own through a proxy who is a citizen of that country. Costa Rico comes to mind. I have friends who thought they owned their property there till they found out that they didn't. Lots of medical tourism in South and Central America. None of the expats is rushing to give up their US citizenship, and I don't believe any Americanos are parading through Mexico City demanding English be taught in the schools. I'm just sayin' [Coffee]

I will go on record to stir the pot. However, I am referring to changing the policy to let people immigrate who want to be Americans and contribute.

No dual citizens, no welfare. For example why import Somalis such as those who turned to terrorism in Kenya.

You have to establish a renewable (yearly) bank trust. It`s called a Fidecomiso.. I`ve owned it a very long time.. lot`s of ex pat' retired military there. I've heard all the horror stories.. about buying property from someone with no legal right to sell it..it does happen. All in all no regrets.. You think there`s a lot of Mexican`s in Colorado? They`re all over the place down there!
I`ve only gone to jail down there twice...

I think most people who go through the expense and brain damage of immigrating legally want exactly that.
