I'm looking at buying an ACOG and I don't know which would be better to get, either the red or the green chevron. Any advise is appreciated.

For 1.5x I like their doughnut of death.. for their 4x, the red chevron bleeds less than the green one.

I'm a newbie. What do you mean by the red "bleeds less" than the green?

I would guess he means it stands out more against natures green earth.

That's what I thought. I've shot with the red chevron and like it but a great deal came up on a green chevron model and I wanted to get some opinions from people that have experience with them. Thanks.

I Have shoot red chevrons for 8 years and own a red reticle ACOG. Personally I have never shoot a green reticle aCOG so I can't tell you my personal preference. If it has a fiber optic tube like most come with, you need to cover half of the fiber optic tube with electrical tape and this will help with the bleed or halo glow. I think you will be happy with any ACOG color choice; if it's a heck of a deal I would say buy it and spend the rest on ammo. Ammo makes you a better shooter not the color of the reticle.

He means that it will appear more crisp...

The green will look "fuzzy".

That's what he means.

I like the red donut.

I acclimated to it rapidly.

I've shot the green Chevron ACOG before, Honestly I seen no difference my eye was able to pick up the center with no issue. In practice green is a easier color for your eye to look at and would cause less eye strain over a longer time, in reality I don't think we shoot enough to qualify that ideal.

I have a green crosshair reticle and haven't had any issues with green.

I missed out on a great deal on a new green chevron TA11F. I've shot with the red chevron and liked it and can't wait to shoot with a green. ACOG's are great but with the high price I want to make the right choice the first time. Thanks to all for the good information!
