Damn washer quit spinning last night. Any body here fix them? I could probably do it my self but it started leaking a little recently so I would rather have someone who knows what he is doing look at it.

Washers are pretty simple ...
do some net research and attack it yourself .
not spinning is likely belt, motor, or even as simple as the tensioner being loose .
leak might be a lose or cracked hose.
I've fixed a few over the years but I'm no expert .

If it is a front load HD type and the spin cycle won't work and has water left inside then it could be the pump being clogged.
This happened to our last year and it was two nylon booties that clogged it up.
30 minute fix.
Pump is underneath and looks like a heart with according like connections. Found the nylons and 3 nickels!!!!!!!
After cleaning she worked like a champ.
now the wife puts those things in a sock so they don't get lost again.
Have wet vac to suck out water in the machine and when you disconnect the fittings.

I believe it could also be as simple as the lid switch.

If it is a Front loader, possible door seal leaking, also water getting into contacts below the door causing corrosion and poor connection and preventing spin cycle.

Turned out to be the transmission after I tore into it. Was cheaper to buy a new used one from an appliance store with a warranty.
