I sent it in just over a week ago, I hope it won't have any effect on the wait time.

No, the Federal Government has nothing to do with your CCW license.

Well, technically, his NICS background check does. However, I doubt they're considered non-essential.
If you are waiting on the FBI fingerprint review, it will probably slow it down some. Luckily the 90 day limit in Colorado will still be in effect.

I didn't think Colorado used NICS ... the BGC is done through CBI.

As I understand things, CBI feeds to NICS, but J is right, FBI fingerprint check goes deeper.
FWIW, Utah is state issued and monitors BGC info and will pull a CFP if something pops up.

I did my fingerprint and picture already, just good to know that it won't slow down my ccw process.
The fingerprint cards get sent FROM the CBI TO the FBI. If the FBI hasn't processed the prints yet, expect some delay. Even the divisions considered "critical" and still open are operating on reduced crews, therefore it is logical to expect increased turn around time.
And YES, one part of the CBI check, for CCW, or for gun purchases is the NICS check. They do that plus the local records in addition. Legally, they have to use the federal NICS for FFL checks since it is required by federal law. So they use that plus additional data.

It might slow it down a touch, but all LE offices involved in this are considered essential and should not be affected by the shutdown. The reduction in manning are secretaries and other non LE portions of the offices, so some aspects of the work will be slower but all in all I doubt it would add more than a day or two to your time. I received my CCW from Boulder County last July in 59 days after submitting the paperwork if I remember correctly.

A week ago, When are you expecting your CCW, next week? If boulder is doing 2 week turn around time, i'd be impressed.

well, the lady who did the fingerprint told me that the process is "pretty quick" now and gave me a 2 week turn around time believe it or not. I do not expect any wait time less then 2 month minium, I just hope it's not more then 90 days.
When the wife and I did our CCW in Boulder County, it took 93 days. Wonder what they did to speed things up? They took our pictures and fingerprints at the end of the 90 day period and issued the license on the spot.
The FBI doesn't have to do the fingerprint check. AFIS does most of the dirty work and is available to CBI folks (yes its at the FBI/CJIS but its an automated system). The stuff that the FBI has to 'look' at are things where AFIS does not get a 100% match or there are irregularities (things like sex, height, weight, hair color, eye color, etc don't match what is submitted on the application/DL).
