So it turns out the Speaker of the House, pissing and moaning about how exemptions, waivers and special exceptions to Obamacare are bad has been in secret negotiations for some time with Harry Reid to keep the congressional subsidies for Obamacare premiums in place.
Story HERE (http://www.businessinsider.com/republicans-will-fire-john-boehner-if-they-really-oppose-congress-special-obamacare-exemption-2013-10).
FFS. What can we possibly do when even our own side is busy betraying us?

What can we possibly do when even our own side is busy betraying us?
It's because they are not our side... When the boot of oppression is on the back of your neck, does it matter if it is the left boot or the right?
I'm curious why anyone is surprised by this type of behavior?

The thing that makes me sad about ole Boner is that if he would have taken a hard line from the start and been the "Tea Party Speaker" then future generations would have whispered his name in the same hushed and reverent tones reserved for Thomas Jefferson, George Washington and Ronald Reagan. Not to mention all the good things he could have done.
Instead he's hated by both sides and whenever he leaves the house most people will be "good riddance ya schmuck".

This was the last straw for me. Over the past several years, the only reason I kept my party affiliation as Republican was so I could vote in primary elections. But this ended it.
Changed to Libertarian.
Can't wait for the next RNC call begging for money.

Not one cent to the RNC.
I was hoping for a "default". To show that it is not as devastating as the media and libs hyped. It would have meant a cut to about 33% of the gubermemt and hopeful elimination of non-essential programs and departments. It would have shown the real intentions of the left.

If you're still a republican, you're like an abused wife who won't leave. Next time. Next time. It's always "next time they do this I'll leave"

I will NOT be donating to any national GOP PAC fund. I will only send money to individuals I am supporting, Freedom Works and Conservative Senate Fund. I am over with the national GOP giving up any fight to save our country.

That's really profound stupid. Name a better option. Libertarian?

WTF ever. Tea Party republicans need to get elected in more districts. And BTW...Doug Lamborn, my representative, voted "No".

That's how the abused wife thinks: "What better option do I have? Where would I go? It would be terrible. At least I have a roof over my head. It will be better from here. He apologized. Next time though, next time I'm leaving."
I know you know the often repeated definition of insanity. And if that definition is correct, that's what you are for still supporting the Republican party.
It's this simple: they don't ever ever ever ever do what they say they're going to do. And you vote (and evidently will continue to vote) for them based on what they say they're going to do. I don't get it. I shouldn't have to explain why voting for them doesn't make sense, you should be explaining why voting for them makes sense. And that explanation shouldn't be along the lines of "because liberals will take over", because liberals have already taken over.
If I lied to you once, ONCE, you wouldn't ever trust me again. How many times have Republican politicians lied to you? It's uncountable.

You lost about 10 credibility points when you used "ever ever ever ever". Just my opinion, as I lurk through the thread.
Carry on, gentlemen.

That's okay. You hold no credibility with me, so your observation is meaningless.

By that standard, I would never vote for any incumbent, regardless of party affiliation.

And if you have that standard in real life, are you surprised at the results when you don't apply the same standard to politicians?

If you'd look at this like a reasonable and rational person you wouldn't need me to explain to you why your analogy to an abused wife doesn't make sense and why I've already proven part of your statement wrong. You also continue to parrot the ridiculous definition of insanity when that's not at all the definition (in fact, it's some stupid bumper-sticker slogan that made it's way around the internet gaining lots of popularity with the low info crowd), nor is it what occurs when choosing a political candidate. But just to restate for about the 1000th time, IF that were the definition of insanity then Libertarians must all be insane because they keep voting for Libertarian candidates despite the fact they almost NEVER get elected to any major statewide or national office.
The last one I can recall to hold a national office was Ron Paul...and he was too chickenshit to run as a Libertarian and had to ride Republican party coattails to get elected.
Tea Party Republicans held firm to their "No" stance on the gov't funding bill...144 in the house and 18 in the senate. Sen Cruz filibustered the bill...the conservative caucus of the house voted "No" and lobbied Boehner hard to reject the bill (because that's what their constituents wanted). Doug Lamborn, representing the district I live in, voted "No". So as a very conservative individual, why don't you tell me what party with an electable candidate will represent my views better than a Republican? Every single Democrat in congress voted for it. The Libertarians? Oh, wait...they're aren't any Libertarians in congress.
So when you lump all Republicans into the same boat that tells me you either: 1) Don't know what your talking about, 2) Don't understand how our system works, 3) You're being intellectually dishonest, 4) You're too dogmatic and idealistic to appreciate the reality of our (mostly) two-party system, 5) All of the above.
It's the same type of argument that "there's no difference between Republicans and Democrats". That type of statement goes beyond ignorance...it's just plain stupid.
And if you have that standard in real life, are you surprised at the results when you don't apply the same standard to politicians?
That is your standard sir. I am paraphrasing your post here, but you wrote that you don't understand how anyone can vote for Republican politicians because they lie to us over and over again. Is this an incorrect understanding of your post?
My comment was essentially stating that using your standard would leave me with no incumbent politicians to vote for as I believe that all politicians, regardless of party affiliation, lie.
I am neither surprised by the current political climate in the United States or the result of the artificial crisis in DC. I live in the real world and hold no political party or politician in much esteem.
Yes need to be an ass about it. You started talking to me by being an ass, not the other way around. What planet are you living on? Read back 3 posts and see who started being the ass (you). It's right there in black and white.
Well, allow me to apologize for hurting your feelings. Please feel free to resume your on-topic discussion, and I will derail this thread no further.

Oh...and BTW. I started this thread about Boehner betraying his party and conservatives in general. So there's really no need to attempt to lecture me on the evils of many in the Republican party. Because there's a Good Ole Boy faction in the party doesn't mean I'm willing to throw the baby out with the bath water.
What you seem unable to understand is that first and foremost, I'm a conservative. The Republican party BEST represents my conservative values AND the Republican candidate can get elected...which is far better than the fantasy put forth by Libertarians that "if only enough people would vote for us we could get elected, too". I have never said Republicans are perfect and I often criticize them...this thread is one example. But I also don't live in a utopian world wishing and hoping things were different. I may not really like the reality and I do what I can to change it...but it's reality nonetheless.
I find the Libertarian party only slightly more palatable than the Democrat party.
I suppose I could change my affiliation to Unaffiliated...but it wouldn't change what I believe nor how I vote.

All I'm doing is "fighting" for what I believe...like so many on this forum say we should do. The enemy can take many forms.
I saw a tweet today, yes, a tweet that said "No matter what people say about a 3rd party, it is easier to take over the GOP than start a 3rd party.".

Vote the liars out and lets all drink the TEA. Lets get the guys in there that will reverse the government growth trend and lower taxes and repeal the ACA and not replace it with another government run intrusion into our lives. I have heard republican say that they want to keep some parts of the ACA and remove and replace other parts. That dog just don't hunt with me.

Just another politician. We need real change. no more lifetime politicians. only single term presidents. no benefits whatsoever after serving a full term. You get paid, you know it is a temporary job. thats it.
