I was thinking about going to the Maker Faire in Loveland this weekend (http://makerfairenoco.com/), but when I went to get tickets they state very boldly...

What can/can't I bring to the event?
This is a family event - GUNS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED INSIDE.

Yes, it's in pink on their site... :)

So, if you were thinking of going.. you have been warned that it will be a defense-free zone. I always wonder if they think that criminals pay attention to these sort of restrictions.[Bang]

Oh well, it would have been fun to go. I guess I'll find something else to do.

Since when are guns anti-family? How did that battle get lost?

So were you planning on telling everyone there about your CCW Gun? Just go. That will be a family event and then go to the range with your family and make that a family event

Its a family event. NO guns is the only thing disallowed. Interestingly, convicted felons, rapists, child molesters. The mentally unstable or insane. Drug addicts, drug dealers, pornagraphers, human trafficers, jihadists, people high or drunk, thieves, those appear to all be OK. And Loveland does have a fairly large problem with human trafficing, they just took down a large group there, 1 or 2 years ago.

I just stirred the pot on their facebook page, see how long that lasts.

For those that will miss it.

I was thinking about attending this event, but when I went to buy tickets I see that you are asking law abiding citizens to not bring guns because this is a family event, what does being a family event have to do with you limiting the rights of a law abiding citizen?

Just wondering are you allowing convicted felons, rapists, or child molesters into your event? I didn't see any of those things on the list of things not to bring.

I would absolutely understand a "no making guns" rule. The blanket rule is 100% political.

So apparently, liquor stores, breweries, and distilleries are "family oriented", but guns are not...[hahhah-no]

I think I would rather my kids to learn how to shoot 22s, instead of teaching them how to taste whiskey.
