View Full Version : New developments in the Austin Sigg- Jessica Ridgeway case
Had a class today on Colorado Statutes: Children's Code from one of the Jefferson County Deputy District attorneys today, and he said that Austin Sigg was charged in a direct file (Juvenile charged as an adult) and has plead guilty to all charges. Jeffco DAs office anticipates a sentencing of life in prison (DOC) with the possibility for parole in 60 years- this fact is due to him being a juvenile at the time of the commission of the Class 1 Felony, as passed down by the SCOTUS in a previous determination on juvenile cases and the death penalty/life without parole issue. So good news, no contest he's confessed and plead guilty (no appellate possibilities) , bad news, if he survives his term in prison he stands the chance of release at 78... but he will never have the chance to ever live any semblance of a "normal" life.

Don't worry, even if he is granted parole by the parole board he will be classified as a sexually violent predator with lifetime supervision on parole.
Oh very true... again IF he even makes it that far. I'm hoping jailhouse justice will intervene before hand. And the silver lining to the whole "no death penalty for juvenile offenders"- some asshat governor with a (D) after his name can pass the execution off.

He will be locked away just like Joshua Carrier, the cop-child molester! And when you go looking at the DOC inmate locator system online it will say NO RECORD FOUND!
Glad to see he saved the justice system a lot of time and money by pleading guilty. However; I am disgusted that such a human being was ever brought into this world to commit such an evil act.

I at times have mixed feelings about the death penalty... I do not have mixed feelings about sticking these sicko's in solitary with a sturdy overhead pipe and a sheet. Let them take care of things themselves, Ariel Castro style...
Put him in general population 1 day after his 18th birthday. Things will sort themselves out soon enough.

Had it been my daughter he killed the dude wouldn't have made it out of the courtroom alive.
ZERO THEORY

He'll be insane by the time he gets out. He'd have to spend the whole 60 years in protective custody (read: solitary confinement) to avoid an ox or screwdriver, and solitary usually drives people to a myriad of fun ailments like schizophrenia, psychosis, etc. within a year.
The odds of him ever harming a child again are virtually non-existent.

I would bet you are 100% spot on...but then again, I'd rather he get the "shank" in gen pop and not take any chances.

I will agree with your first statement, as much a scuzbag he is at least the family of her will not have to endure a trial as well.
Second statement, not so sure. Everybody is capable of evil, dependent on many factors. I am disgusted by the evil act he committed
Hopefully he gets the same as Jessica in prison.
Hickenlooper will probably pardon him.
Just shoot him in the head. It will cost less than $1.00 and no money will be wasted letting him rot in the system. I'll be the first to volunteer!
I thought I had heard about this last week.

On my second statement, that is what I was going for. Thanks Bert. [Beer]

Nah, hang him. You can reuse the rope so it essentially costs nothing.
In his case it would have to be the guards that get him, just like in Castro's case. Castro was in solitary under suicide watch and still managed to hang himself, that wasn't an inmate that got him. The idea of gen pop justice is way overhyped since you see so many child molestors get back out and do their sick acts again. It's why they had to make sex offender registries, amber alerts and jessica's laws; repeat offenders who get sentenced, do their time and get out unscathed, then head off to some playground.
Castro got off, no pun intended, easy, too bad he didn't go like Dahmer did. [mop]

Now they are trying to jam up the Guards:
Prison Guards Failed To Check On Ariel Castro, Falsified Log BooksCOLUMBUS, Ohio - A report released Thursday by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction says rounds were not properly completed the night serial kidnapper Ariel Castro hanged himself in his cell.
The Cleveland kidnapper was found hanging in his cell on Sept. 3 at 9:18 p.m.
The new review indicates that guards did not properly complete rounds that night. It also says the guards falsified post log books.
Two guards, Caleb Ackley, 26, and Ryan Murphy, 27, are already on administrative leave with pay during the investigation.
Ackley and Murphy were on duty when Castro killed himself at the Correctional Reception Center in Orient, Ohio, 10TV reported in September.
The review also indicates that the MedCare Ambulance response to the emergency call was "significantly delayed."
The contract with the EMS provider indicates they should have a 15 minute response, but it took 34 minutes on the night Castro died, according to the report.
The report said Castro was not en route to the hospital until at least an hour after he was discovered.
The report also says that Castro was found hanging with his pants and underwear pulled down. The report says this information has led authorities to believe that Castro may have died from auto-erotic asphyxiation.

Execute him and put it on live television for all high school kids to watch at assembly, now thats education!
After they put him in general population they could do a variation of the old drug commercials
This is your asshole before being convicted and getting sent to jail
This is your asshole after spending 6 months in general population
don't do the crime....
All inmates should be given a straight razor and 6 ft of rope while in solatary.
Suicide watch should be done away with. A dead criminal is a good thing, and those guards should not be punished.
The officers are in trouble. WTF this guy kidnapped and raped those girls for years, and then killed himself or died accidentally.
There should be a loud sigh of relief the monster is dead.

The Officers are in trouble because they broke(or are accused of breaking) Policy and Procedures(P&P), no different then any other Officer or Deputy in this nation, LEO's are not Judge, Jury and Executioners, they are Law Enforcement Officers who are ruled by the book of laws and Policy and Procedures of the respective departments they work for. If in fact they are outside of P&P then they are subject to the broad hand of justice without the support of their department, again, just like any other LEO in this country.
As a person in Law Enforcement who works in a jail, we make our rounds specifically to prevent these types of incidents, very often we fail but that is why P&P's are there, to protect us, just like when Road LEO's get into shootings they are ruled good or not good shootings according to the P&P's of the department, if these Officers had done their jobs properly I can't say they would have saved this monsters life, but I can say they would not be in this predicament, P&P is there to protect LEO's, but if you are outside of P&P it will hit you like a Mack truck.
