If any of you are going out to Bob Swainson's "Farm" for some range time tomorrow, I'll be out there with the family getting some quality trigger time in. I'll be in a black coat with a red Magpul patch on the sleeve. Time to fire up the M&P 9mm & sight in the AR.

Follow up on the range today. Got the AR sighted in with the new free-float rail and the new compensator was absolutely amazing! I honestly didn't feel an ounce of recoil with the comp on there. Thank you Jared (SkullyBones) for that. On an even cooler note, my awesome 4-year old son got to shoot a .22 rifle for the first time. It is a Remington Nylon 66 semi-auto that was handed down to me from my grandfather. Best part is...he got to shoot it at 2 old junk cars Bob had on the range. How many 4 year-olds get to say their first time shooting a .22 rifle they got to shoot at junk cars? Wife ran the Glock on the shoot house for the first time and really impressed me. All in all, it was a great family day on the range. Huge thanks to Bob Swainson.

RW Swainson is a great dude. I have known him for many years. A man among men for sure.

My first time shooting a match style course was at the farm, before I even belonged to this forum. RW is a great guy, who sincerely enjoys helping others.
I need to get back out there, and see what improvements/changes have taken place.

According to his FB page he's looking for pictures from this weekend shoot. Someone trashed one of his steel targets pretty good and I'd imagine he's trying to track them down.

The Bennett Farm is a great handgun, shotgun, and battle rifle tactical range, and was my weekly getaway for several years. However, it's gotten way too crowded for my comfort level. With so many people coming and going, and not enough rangemasters, the weekly damaged steel is almost a given. My shooting interests have also changed for the most part to varmint hunting. With average pdog targets at 200-250 yards, the max 160-180 yard distances at the farm are no longer as entertaining. I'd love to see him expand it with steel targets out to 500 yards. As a tactical training location, it's still very good, and Bob as always, is an excellent resource.

Bob is great! I have him booked on Nov 10th for his advanced handgun class with a couple other friends of mine. There are 3 of us right now, still waiting for a confirmation from a 4th friend of mine but we might be looking for a 4th to fill out our group depending on his answer. It would be 4 hours of training for $100. I will post back in a week or so if the 4th slot is available if anyone is interested...

Prerequisite: basic handgun course. This is what we will be covering:
"I will focus on drawing from concealment or from an exposed holster, engaging targets from various distances and multiple shooting positions, with an emphasis on cover utilization, shooting and moving, reloading techniques and malfunction clearances"

Where is the farm located? Is it open to the public? His site doesn't have any details.

Another +1 from me on the farm. It has gotten a bit too crowded, but shooting with Bob is a blast. He's a hell of a shot, and a nice guy.

Yep, facebook. RWFirearms Training I believe. he'll post up there pretty much every day - training schedules and such. Message him there for details about the range location etc.
