Not sure about the Fed, but Bloomberg's group sure have been doing this in many states, usually out side NY. To show that gun buyers and sellers are terrrible people.

I jumped the gun a little. My bad. When I got curious about the area code and it came up as "US Gov federal agency only" I assumed they were trying to bait someone. 710 area code, just signed up on armslist yesterday, only 1 ad. Had some red flags. Turns out he just typoed the number
