The FDE thread has been pretty popular, so I thought I'd try something else! Let's see your Mossy Oak Brush boomsticks! Here's mine that I just picked up today! It's a Mossberg MMR Hunter in .223/5.56 with a free float 20" barrel, and a Nikon Coyote Special 4-12x40mm BDC.

Do you feel like you are able to sneak up on Oak trees better with this rifle?

Have a few more beers and then try it!

I wish my rifle had a pattern and wasn't black actually.

Pretty narrow field of results for a thread. Not many out there with your exact pattern...

Huh, Savage, Remington, Mossberg. That's three major gun makers with factory Mossy Oak Brush guns. The fact that Nikon offers the Coyote Special in it would make you think it's pretty popular as well?

Finally made it out to the "farm" and zeroed the Hunter with Nikon Coyote Special. Initial zero at 50 yards, clicked -2 on the elevation, then took it out to 100 yards. Another handful of rounds and I was hitting dime sized dots consistently. Not bad for an AR and a scope without any cross hairs.

Its a Dpms prairie panther with the 4-12 Nikon coyote zeroed at 100 then I have a true glo on an offset mount zeroed for 50. Headed out bird hunting this morning and he was out chasing mice. Rolled him at 150 yards.

Very nice. I am amazed how precise the Nikon Coyote Special actually is. Before getting mine I had read reviews about how it was hard to zero and not as accurate due to the open reticle. As I mentioned, that wasn't the case during my zero. I'm taking it out pdoggin tomorrow, so that will be the true test.

The coyote special is great for coyotes, but for p-dogs out past 100 it starts to get spotty. A buddy also has one on his Ar and we both agree that the open reticle just isn't precise enough to pop heads peeking from holes. That's just an opinion, but you may like it a lot shooting rats. Let me know how it does for you.
