Strolling along the frontage road a few miles south of Castle Rock, I didn't know that they roamed that far from the more stereotypical habitat.

Sure would hate to see one standing in the middle of the highway, even if undersized by Alaska standards that's still a big ol critter.

See em just south of castle pines by i-25. Every now and then you see where a vehicle and a moose had a run in...a lot of damn blood.
See em south of town by larkspur quite a bit too.

There were two hanging out in Elizabeth the other day. Took some pictures, but they were crap since it was with my phone. I've seen an elk and a moose this year in Elbert County. Kinda odd.

When we had one in my parents back yard in Dumont and called the DOW, they said it was about the farthest East they'd heard of at the time. The big one I didn't know about was porcupines. Last year there was a bid one roadkilled on Havana by Surrey Ridge and there's one now on Ridgegate/mainstreet between Chambers and Havana. Probably about the size of a Cocker Spaniel.

We have a family of them walking around Motor City in the Springs.
They don't even budge when you walk by.They seem pretty used to people.
Wonder if there refugees from the fires?

Reports on the Moose seen around Elizabeth suggest they are migrated transplants DOW put into Pikes Peak.

A friend with a place out there sent me pics from Dave's Barn. He said he went to open a gate to let it out of his neighbors yard and it chased him onto a trailer. It's rather strange to find them out on the plains given the general lack of abundant water.

If it's the same moose, he's getting quite a lot of attention. Even got his picture taken and printed in the lasted print of the local paper "Prairie Times" which someone snapped just south of Elizabeth.

Damn I saw a lot of Moose this past week.

I suppose being in the "Moose Viewing Capitol of Colorado" area helps.

Scared one out while working a ridge line above a thick grove. The others were all vehicle scares/crossings while driving to hunting hiking with guns spots.

Just heard on the news that there is a moose in Parker. Police are aware. They weren't specific on location. If I hear more I'll try to get pics...which is why I'm sure they're not giving out the location. [LOL]

He's gone now, they trank'ed and relocated him yesterday. 2y.o. bull, according to the news. I'd just heard about it and was hoping to get some photos. He had been roaming around about a mile from my house, over in Stonegate. If it had made it into the Cherry Creek greenbelt, it would have been a tough catch. That's perfect habitat for moose, I'd like to see them move in!

That CC greenbelt makes it interesting around here. Last year it was a young black bear. He was spotted a few times around the cottonwood area and then disappeared. Don't remember hearing about him being caught and relocated.

After seeing the post, I fired up a scanner app. I only heard one call on the scanner and the officer was telling dispatch that DOW was on site and was just going to keep an eye on it for the time being. I got bored with the chatter and turned it off after about an hour.
