Looks like the news this morning says they're facing felony charges. And apparently they are boy scout leaders, which pisses me off even more. They should know better.

At least they were smart enough to give the authorities all the evidence.

Back in TN I saw a guy drive his FJ out in the middle of tellico river and back, park ranger saw him do it and he was fined for disturbing a creek bed, so I'm sure it's somewhere along those lines. I think they're idiots and deserve what they get

A fitting sentence might be a hefty fine and about 2500 hours of community service in the park. That these douchenozzles are Scout leaders boggles the mind. One of the tenets of Scouting is a respect for others and the natural beauty of the outdoors...http://www.advrider.com/forums/images/smilies/boid.gif

Stupid, inbred, fat, cocksuckers. Hope they don't own firearms- give us all a bad name.
Wonder if they serve fries where they work since they are too fucking dumb to work a real job.

I'm guessing at least one of them does, Note the Browning Ball Cap, Sad but true.

What? Does this mean I cant go rock hunting without picking one up and dropping it in another location? Maybe I shouldnt even pick one up.. Come on, we all have pushed something over. Like a dead tree in the forest to see if it made a sound. lol
I dont know, this might be on the line. Yes, balanced rocks are cool but should it be criminal? Hey, that rock was destined to fall anyway! (Note: defacing any national artifact or anothers property is wrong)
Too touchy feely? What say you?
This habit of posting of dumb things is way past due!

It's called Goblin Valley for a reason. State park, state park rules.

If these peckerwoods an example of the current Boy Scout leadership, then Scouting is truly FUBARed. Either way, they are fawking idiots.

Sorry, no tears.
I feel the same way. Somebody is sentimental over a rock that is gonna fall anyway?
Was it the right thing to do? No. Should they try and put it back... yes.
Do they deserve jail or fines... NO!

The Boy Scouts link in not valid. Who cares! These adults were not leading scouts. Just because someone is a Scout leader does not make them infallible. Should all Scout leaders also never have a drink or not completely stop at a stop sign. Tell me all Scout leaders have never sped in their cars. These are people just like you.. but, they just try and help kids... many which are disadvantaged or from broken homes.

They deserve fines at minimum. This is vandalism plain and simple. Just because something is fragile doesn't mean it is ok to break.

Every single natural arch in Utah is going to fall eventually, maybe we should all go blow up a few early?

We've all done something we shouldn't have, no matter what we're involved in for the "children". I can't say that I've ever video taped them though, that is the new world we live in, everyone wants to record it.

The rock would have fallen some day, maybe the next day after they were there, maybe 100 years from now. It might have fallen on some person, ya never know.

I guess it's a lot like the Stalactites in the cave of the winds, many are broken off and taken by folks over the years. Disappointing. 1000's of examples can be made.

They will get a fine, do some community service for a while. Lose a bunch of friends probably over this, public shame. Not an easy thing to overcome. Punishment enough.

Guess I'd like to see this formation before anyone pushes the rest of them over. :)

Likewise all trees are going to fall EVENTUALLY, why are we prolonging the inevitable?

Damn rednecks need a healthy fine.

Maybe they were thinking about the guy in Utah. He went hiking and a boulder fell on his arm, pinning him to a rock wall. He cut his arm off with a Swiss Army knife. Then he hiked back to his car.

So I figure we should cut one of these guys arm off and call it even...

I hope the Scouts revoke his registration. That jerk is trying to claim he did it for safety reasons and he'd do it again, just with ranger at his side? Absolute load of fecal matter there. His lawsuit for "disability" just shows what a waste of organic matter he is.

I was yelled at for stumbling and going off the trail... I destroyed some of the precious dirt formations is what the ranger said. Never mind that it was a complete accident as he saw, just hat it happened... Some shit is beyond ridiculous, and these were just simple people acting like simple people (stupid). We should put up big bins with shiny objects in them to keep them occupied at all natural places that we want to preserve. Or a McDonalds... They would never make it in...

I wouldn't give them jail time or anyhing like that, but I would make them try to put it back, and if they couldn't, make them pay for the equipment needed to put it back safely without endangering the health of anyone (meaning bringing in specialty equipment, or a helicopter, and not using laborers to do heavy lifting).

It's been a longggg time since I was in the boy scouts, but I seem to recall their desired attributes including something like honor, respect, and morally sound. This clown has proven he lacks all of those things.

I hope he loses out on the disability too.

Wish granted.

Two Utah men already facing possible criminal charges for purposely toppling an ancient rock formation in a state park have now been removed from their posts as Boy Scout leaders.

Do the Mormons still require the parents to put in time if their kids are in Scouting? Back in the old days ('70s) they did. Maybe this is how these two "genius'" made it into the program. Assuming they were Mormons.

As an aside, it is rather interesting how many have come see validation via video as a necessity. The guys peeing on the dead taliban, a few rednecks toppling a rock formation, the list is endless of people who would never have gotten into trouble had they not found it imperative that they post their exploits online for others to see.

YouTube and GoPro must be so proud.

the forest service would never be able to put it back, if they put it back and then it falls again then they would be held liable for anyone that got hurt because they did not secure it properly. if mother nature drops it on someone then it would be an "act of god"

That's a load of crap. It wasn't going to fall on anyone barring an earthquake. What they did was an act of vandalism that goes on for untold years. I don't see prison time but they deserve criminal charges and penalties; if the appropriate criminal charge is a felony, so be it.
