Anybody know of a place locally that has a good selection of bullet casting molds and other accessories in stock?

I have had awesome dealings with Titan Reloading in Wisconsin. Their shipping time is lightning fast and prices are great. I used to be stuck on Lyman moulds but after buying a few Lee's I am sold on them.

You can get enough info on the Cast Boolits forum to make a decision on what molds will work for you. I have been casting a long time and have seen very few stores that keep molds. If you do get into cast, take a hard look at powder coating on rifle bullets. By powder coating you don't have to be so particular about alloy. Cast, water drop and powder coat. You can do a thousand easy in an afternoon. Don't let the people convince you on all the hype about measuring your barrel. Measure the inside of a fired case and deduct one one thousandth and that is generally the dimension of your barrel. That will help you order the size of mold, so you don't end up with a lot of molds and dies that are useless.

Thanks! I saw the same. They do have an impressive amount of other stuff though.

Looked their site over, may have to do some bidness there! Do they have gas checks? I assume so, but couldn't find them.

Lots of online places carry Hornady gas checks. Midway's price is *about* $28/1000 for .38 cal. If you check at the CastBoolits forum, you can find one guy selling Gator brand Cu gas checks for about $23/1000 and another guy selling Al gas checks for about $19/1000. You might also consider the FreeChex tool or the one from PatMarlin to make your own for a fraction of the cost to purchase.

They have a FEW more items than that, but not much at all. I recall seeing a Lyman ladle and ingot mold. I believe they may have a Lyman "Big Dipper" lead furnace and they carry a couple of the Lee furnaces. Just a smattering of stuff for casting, unfortunately.

I was wondering if Titan had gas checks, so I get them at the same time as molds. Making my own is a definite future probability. I just did a deal with another member here, so I have a Lyman furnace, dippers, and two .45 molds, plus an assload of ingots and an ingot mold, and a ton of other ingots already. Lead, I have! Thermometer too. Mainly interested in casting bullets for my Enfields and Mosins to start, then the .30-06's. Then expand from there.

Having lead will make things easier. We are putting together an inventory, but what we often find is that the alloy mix is not quite right so we then need to have a supply of tin or linotype (for its antimony) on-hand to get the mix just right.

Anyway - best of luck to you.
