I went into a UPS store with an AR bolt and charging handle to ship. The girl working the counter asked "are these parts for a gun?" I thought about denying it, because I knew there was only one reason she should be asking. "Yes, but they're not parts that I can't ship, or that the government regulates in any way, or that you need to know about."
"Um, we're not allowed to ship anything that has anything to do with guns. You have to take them to the UPS hub".
"I don't think that's right. You better double check."
"Yeah, anything that's gun related you're not allowed to ship".
"I think you're wrong".
So she gets on the phone and calls the store owner, who tells her she's wrong.
Why is UPS even asking about guns now? It pisses me off.

Happened to me once, said I need to go to some sort of ups store, so I went home, put my stuff in a box, taped it and gave it to them saying its some toys. Felt pretty good actually. Bunch of idiots

Good option, but I think there is a certain level of satisfaction in making the dumb broad put in some research and look like an idiot...
She should not feel dumb. She should have thanked you for teaching her something she did not know.
Who knows everything?
Learn something new... Be grateful.

Once again the UPS Store is not UPS. They are a private franchise that has a partnership with UPS. They have their own shipping rules. They will not touch anything gun related if they know about it. Also, seeing that they are not UPS they add their own commission on top of the normal UPS shipping charges, in other words you will pay more to ship the same item by going to a UPS Store.
You can easily log onto UPS.com and create your own shipment and print off your own label from comfort of your own home in your underwear if you prefer. No questions asked as to what it is. You can then simply drop your box and label off at a UPS.Store, hub or arrange for a pickup for shipment.

Fair assessment,
Someone has to play Devil's advocate (serious statement), otherwise you just have a bunch of a$$ holes like me running around.
I had to return a pistol to the manufacturer for warranty repair. It was labeled as "machine parts".
It's an internal combustion engine with an unrestrained piston. Just ship it without ignitors, fuel, or pistons. ;-)
Do not use UPS -- fricking liberal union whores..
Ship FedEx.

Or, put another way that I've always liked: "Ignorance can be cured, stupidity is forever."

+1 for FedEx. I got an account with them and ship guns, ammo and parts on a regular basis.

[LOL][LOL][LOL]
UPS drivers are union, anyone not a driver, is not union.
Fedex is union, except drivers are subcontractors.
Fedex also has a $9 surcharge to ship any quantity of ammo. Where UPS just requires an ORM-D sticker on it for under 50lbs, and no extra fees.

Right on!! I've used FedEx, they didn't even blink when I said it was it an M1A going back to Springfield Armory. Just checked my packing, labeled my box, and shipped it. No issues when I got it back either.
My UPS driver is always pretty cool--have three of them.
Last week, one got to unload ~130lbs of 7.62/.308 and I wasn't even there to offer him a water. [facepalm]
The folks in the stores/hubs are not cool. Had one guy try and pull the same "we don't take guns" thing shipping a P226 back to Exeter for service. I had him get in on the phone and he was told to accept the package and print a receipt for me--he did it.
I always wonder if these are company policies or the folks are either afraid of guns or are prohibited persons.
Why are you carrying in gun parts to ship? Box them up first, then you're only shipping a box. Cookies for Aunt Tilly, ya know.

I had to drive to Colorado Springs yesterday, and I just grabbed them when I walked out the door so I could ship them over lunch time somewhere down there. Normally I would have boxed them up myself.

I have no issues with our UPS hub. We have discussed many times how the stores do not accept anything firearm related. FedEx contract drivers suck around here. They have no problem leaving a firearm marked for adult signature on the porch and forging the signature when nobody is home.
My UPS driver is a shooter and very good.
Just my two cents on the matter.
Yes, they are idiots!
I sent primers and powder many times from a UPS Store declaring in the paper "Primers" or "Powder" and asking for the Hazmat Fee. Days ago need to send another batch and now the employee told me "no, for this you have to go to the Hub because we don't have the training for this" WTF.
Other day I sent my wife to drop me a package and for my "mistake" I used a box that had the Magpul tape on it, they ask my wife for the content and because she don't know what is she said "magazines" and the idiots don't accept the package because "for send magazines you need to go to the Hub for an inspection" WTF Again.
I really hate UPS and expect no need to use it anymore.
Once again.. The UPS Store is not UPS!!!!!
All of you guys are talking about the UPS Store which we all know has anti gun and other object policies. Do not confuse the two, they are not interchangeable. If you go to a Kinkos FedEx you will have the exact same issues.

Hazmat materials can't be shipped from a UPS store per gov. regs. And I am a UPS driver but not a union whore!

And with that.... And this.
UPS stores are not an exempt under statute handler and they don't have a FFL. They can't handle firearms. Firearm parts? no regs. But I wouldn't fault uninformed for not knowing the regs like I do.
Bottom line is UPS stores are not UPS just like we have discussed before, again and again. If you chose to take your items to a what you thought was a rep you are wrong. Go to a hub and one will find enlightened people. Just my take. Again. [Bang]
