And of course, the article quotes the sister of a Sandy Hook victim, who say's it's a bad idea. Sounds legit, after all having a gun free zone worked pretty well there, didn't it?
I was not aware that was up to the individual districts/schools here.

18-12-214. Authority Granted By Permit - Carrying Restrictions.
(3) A permit issued pursuant to this part 2 does not authorize a person to carry a concealed handgun onto the real property,
or into any improvements erected thereon, of a public elementary, middle, junior high, or high school; except
that:
(a) A permittee may have a handgun on the real property of the public school so long as the handgun
remains in his or her vehicle and, if the permittee is not in the vehicle, the handgun is in a compartment
within the vehicle and the vehicle is locked.
(b) A permittee who is employed or retained by contract by a school district as a school security officer
may carry a concealed handgun onto the real property, or into any improvement erected thereon, of a public

I'm assuming they are going to use 3.b there. So teachers will now be security personnel with the added duty of teaching? Interesting way of getting around the law but I could see that getting challenged as it is not the intent.
Given the response time for local LE to Briggsdale, why not arm the whole school?
I'm thinking the first deputy could be there in about 30 minutes with the nearest backup about an hour away. It might be days till they could get more than a dozen deputies out there and ready to retake the school from one crazed teenager armed with a BB gun.
Does anyone have any information on the last time an armed adult employee in a government school went on a rampage?
School shootings are the best example of how gun control doesn't work. Tragically, too many people want to take this proven failure and expand it to society on a grand scale.
If I had to guess how they are making this work with 18-12-2xx, they are probably classifying the teachers that choose to carry as "volunteer" security guards, much like the lady at the New Life church a few years back.
