Just picked up a new Shield and looking for a good holster. I am looking to see what some others have used for this and get some likes/ dislikes. I have used both a Crossbreed and Minotaur for some other pistols but would like a smaller size for the Shield. I appreciate any input you have...
Bowers had one in a few weeks ago that was pretty lo-profile
Sent from my PRC 117A in my Batmobile disguised as a sedan.
If you want IWB I suggest a PJ holster if you can wait the 10week build time. I'm using one now (borrowed) and absolutely love it. If you're like me and can't wait, Cooks Holsters offer something very similar....mine should be here any day. They have a 2 week wait.
If you want OWB I suggest Colorado Holster. The owner is even a member here and makes a great product. Or if you need something NOW, I have a Raven holster for sale....I know shameless plug [Coffee]

Yeah I definitely will go IWB. The PJ does look nice, not sure if I have the patience to wait the 10 weeks though. Looks like it could be worth it he wait...

I would say it is. I don't have any patience so I ordered a Cooks holster which is almost the same thing. I borrowed the PJ from my dad and like I said above, absolutely love it!! I've tried all sorts of holsters and own way too many but for the small Shield, you cant go wrong with a minimalist kydex holster.
I should have my Cooks holster this week and I will post in this thread which I like better if there is one better than tbe other.

If you could share your thoughts when you get it that would be great, right now Cooks is even saying the wait is now four weeks.

Thanks snichols28, right now I am going towards an IWB. I have heard good things so next time I go for OWB I will let you know...
I got my Cooks holster today!!
The only major difference I see is, the Cooks holster covers the mag release, has more material by the retention screw, more material covering the muzzle (the PJ holster has a more open end) and the front sight channel seems to be a little higher. Oh and the belt clip is wider on the Cooks also, which I like better. I've I only worn the Cooks for a couple hours and conceals the same as the PJ holster. I really like both and probably couldn't choose one over the other. Overall you can't go wrong with either.
The Cooks holster is the carbon fiber one:

Thanks Opie, looks good. Having the side by side pics gives a great comparison. So are either of them the tuckable version?

While it isn't for the Shield (think they do sell them though), I can not speak highly enough of my Bravo Concealment DOS with soft loops.
I got the CompTac Two-Oclock for my M&P40c and it wasn't comfortable, kept sliding around. Order the DOS at the same time and waited nearly 9 weeks for it, but man oh man that was worth it! When I first concealed with it at appendix carry it was a little awkward until I found the best spot for it. When I did that, it disappeared. I carry my M&P40c now all day everyday, whereas before I only carried when it was convenient blah blah blah, excuses excuses.
And for the record, I used to conceal my Glock 23 in a Super Tuck and thought I loved that holster. Haven't carried my G23 in 3 weeks now because of my new holster. Considering getting a DOS for my G23 and eventually for the Shield my wife is planning on getting.
eta: I guess along these lines is, where do you plan on carrying? IWB at appendix, 3, 430, sob?

Neither of them are tuckable. I know Cooks makes a tuckable version though.

I'll carry at the 430...
The INCOG (joint product between G-Code and Haley Strategic Partners) is good for 430, and the DOS is also advertised as being usable at 430, but I haven't tried them there. Have you ever tried appendix carry?

Never carried appendix. I did end up ordering the Cooks holster, only a four week wait right now. I want to go with the this kydex on this one but I will take a look at the Bravo down the road. It is good to hear of something with a good review...

Update - Went with the Cooks and it just arrived today. Haven't done much more than try it on but I like the way it sits. Retention is a little tight, that baby clicks in and it ain't coming out without a fight. Hope this loosens up a bit...

Thanks for the DUH, but I don't care for the kydex style. Looking for something in leather.
