I ordered the yankee hill low pro gas block/flip up front sight to replace the existing tower. Anyone done it and have a setup for it? I see how to remove the old one, but I dont have any good punches or a good bench to do it on. From what I have read you really have to pound on the pins? Also whats the best way to line up the new setup to get it right? Thanks

No body? Man and I was gonna give someone a case of ammo for helping! Not really but I would make it worth your time. Oh well I will have to go get a punch tomorrow. I tried 2 (un-named) gunsmiths, one wants more then the rifle is worth, the other cant do it till 4 weeks from next X-mas.

One thing to look for is that many pins are tapered. So make sure you set the punch on the narrow end. If the rifle doesn't have too many rounds through it, it shouldn't be too bad to knock them out. Maybe give them a squirt of oil or break free the night before you take them out if the rifle has a lot of rounds through it. Ideally you want the upper in a vise and gun block when knocking them out.

As far as getting it to line up that could be the hardest part. On ar15.com I saw some people manage to use a paperclip. If I remember right they take the flashhider off and bend the clip so it sticks up through the gas hole.

Does anybody know if you can get the "front sight bench block" locally in CO? I would like to get this done this weekend and I cant find a smith that can do it that soon so I am going for it. I would just like to find that or I will try to make one. Thanks.
