View Full Version : So, I'm getting irritated at Springfield

I sent them my new XDS early in September for the recall. I didn't have a ton of heartburn with it, I understand that stuff happens with precision engineering. However, I thought the fix was ready and they would have it a few weeks (maybe a month or so) and then send it back. No harm, no foul. I don't even need an apology or a lovely parting gift. However, now they're saying I'll get it back sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas. We could be looking at 4 months... Am I wrong for getting irritated at this point? I don't want to be Mr. Stompyfoot, but I'm starting to get, well, stompy-footy.

I got my 45 back last week but I sent it out within a day or 2 of the recall notice. I still have the wife's 9 I need to send in but think I will wait until after Christmas and let them get through some of the inventory first.

They did handle this pretty poorly, especially saying they had a fix when they did not. I understand for liability reasons they probably wanted the guns off the street as fast as they could get them but they could have handled it better.

I did get a free extended mag for my troubles but would have much rather had the gun back sooner since it was my carry gun.

I bought mine a few days before the recall went out, once the recall went out I tossed it in the safe and haven't touched it. I guess I should send it in.

So, an update, I got the notice last night that mine is on the way back. I'm still surpised it took so long, but I should have it Monday. Still irritated, just sightly appeased.

I am expecting mine any day now and I sent it in right away. To their credit they have treated me well and I will do business with them again.

Just FYI on the return shipping Springfield put restrictions on the package so you cannot have it held at a different (FedEx) location other then the original destination and even then they cannot hold it until after 3 delivery attempts then it's held for 2 days I think?

I tried to get them to hold it at a location closer to me and they said they could not. Then put a hold at original FedEx office but had them call back later to say they could not hold it.

Pain in the Arse but I got it.

New, news ladies and gents. I just picked my XD-S up from FedEx as I had it held there. Just talked to the rep to tell her thanks for working with me as I never got a tracking number from Fedex and she said that Fedex was no longer going to hold them at the few facilities that would. So....better park your rear at home the day it is supposed to be delivered if it isn't already at Fedex.

So should we wait or should we send our guns in?

I personally would wait. I have a second XDs that I have not sent yet. Probably will send it in after the new year. Right now they are so backed up people that sent there guns in late September/October are not expected to get them back until after the holidays. If you send it now it's just going to sit for a long time.

I shipped mine in Sept 2 and got it back yesterday. Received the free 9 rnd magazine, too. Of course I just bought two two weeks ago before I heard they were sending a free one with repaired guns...

Last status email said guns sent in during October would not be repaired and returned until after Christmas. So February or so for ones sent back now???
