This man was just elected Mayor of the largest city in the US.

Not only are his politics extreme, his personal life is more extreme than I had imagined.

Big cities choose...poorly.

I don't see it as any worse than DEE-troit electing Kwame Kilpatrick or Chicago electing Tiny Dancer or Nawlins electing Chocolate City Nagin.

We all better care because he's on the fast-track to Washington. And for those of my family still stuck in NY, he's vowed to stop many of the policies, taskforces and activities that have helped keep that State safer from many terrorist organizations. NY State is a huge target with a big bullseye on it's back...

The other reason we should care is this is another indication of the shifts in this country.

It is worse, and will continue to get worse...

Worse because it is a larger portion of the population who voted him in.
It will spread. There is no stopping it.
One more sign that the Game is Over.

Interestingly enough the article mentioned none of those things, so presumably you're upset that the new mayor is in an interracial relationship with an ex-lesbian.

I was referring to other information about his history. It has nothing to do with what you've stated, though that is kinda interesting...

You mean he vowed to stop the illegal weapon searches? Thats the specific one I've heard mentioned.
I dont buy into giving up rights for the terrorist boogeyman (or in this case just to cut crime).

Wow. Just...wow.

Since it is obvious you do not have family back in the metro area and or ones involved with LE. I will say your WOW, JUST WOW. Is way off base. The new mayor is a sandinista bomb thrower. His political ambitions are to
1- do away with LE as much as possible, having them a secondary response , after "commnity " members fail to rsolve the issue

2- His support of anyone other than US Citizens, show where his loyalties lie. I have no doubt, as do folks back in NY that he will welcome with open arms Chaves and other S, American leftist, with strong anti-american ideologue.

3- His blatant announcement to raise taxes 3 fold (for now) on those making more, for Universal Pre-School. You know the same thing the voters here defeated 2-1

Bill de Blasio, who won the Democratic mayoral nomination vowing to tax New York’s richest residents to pay for universal pre-school, called himself a “fiscal conservative” in a speech to business leaders.
de Blasio, 52, has seized the lead decrying economic inequality. After 20 years of Republican and independent mayoral rule during which crime rates and welfare rolls plummeted and parks, stadiums, shopping, tourism and luxury apartments and office towers rose up, de Blasio speaks of a “Tale of Two Cities,” where almost half of New York residents are poor or struggling.

“We need a game-changer, and at a time when so many families are struggling, it’s right and fair that we tax the wealthiest New Yorkers to achieve it,” de Blasio said last week. “There is no investment that will prove more transformative for our kids.”

Once again using children to advance socialist agendas.

Does anybody remember the US government (the taxpayers of America) bailout of NYC in 1975?

I personally don't care if the new 'Hizzoner' bankrupts the city and drives out every decent taxpayer leaving just the uber wealthy and the permanently dependent class. I do care that NYC is "too big to fail." I don't want to pay for the redistribution of wealth by any politician, including this one.

So which is it? That she is an ex-lesbian or black? Or both?

I would think that your values would cause you to give the man a medal for making a gay woman straight again. And maybe 'two thumbs up' and some forgiveness for a lesbian who got back on the right path.

Or is it the black thing? Do tell!

So, if I don't like the guy because he's a socialist douche canoe, but I don't get too worked up because big cities like to elect socialist douche canoes and he's not much worse than Tiny Dancer or Chocolate City Nagin, and doesn't have a whole lot of power to affect my life, but he's married to a woman who (used to) prefer tacos over pickles...

nvm. I think I just confused myself. What does his marrying an ex-lesbian have to do with the price of foot powder in Broomfield?

I hope someone can tell me why his marriage matters to me. Because right now, I just don't care and don't understand why I should.

Agreed. That mentality can be used this way. Can you believe that guy running for office is a heterosexual, AND HE'S MARRIED TO A WHITE WOMAN! who cares what their personal life is, it's their politics that matters. Isn't that one thing we have addressed, STAY OUT OF MY BEDROOM

Well, maybe it's time for him to leave COAR15 and go back to hanging out with his semi-literate friends at Stormfront. The last thing this site, and the pro-gun movement in general, needs is the guilt-by-association that comes with having a certified cross-burner in its midst.

Really?
One's personal choices do not reflect on one's character?

Though I do not know this couple personally, they remind me of the Clintons.
I suspect he married her for the votes (black and gay), and she married him for the power.
They both appear to be mentally twisted, though it is common in today's political arena.

If my stating my opinion flusters you, I apologize for your parents sending you out into the world without warning.

Your opinion doesn't fluster me, so much as surprise me that someone in the 21st century would actually openly espouse such views in public, let alone hold them. Frankly, if anything, I'm embarrassed for you.

He has a right no matter how disgusting, YOU feel about him, to express them, anywhere. On private web sites, that's a different story. Flip side of his "Opinion" is the percentage of people of color who have the same thoughts / opinions.

Nothing I said or advocated would infringe on his freedom of speech. This forum, and nearly every other forum on the internet is private property, and those who run it are free to allow or ban users as they see fit, for reasons as rational or arbitrary as they like, and that is well and truly their right.

My opinions are my own, sweetheart.
I sense that you do not agree with my opinion. You'll be OK.

How arrogant must one be to believe one's personal opinion would somehow reflect upon all "Colorado gun owners."
Are you really so sensitive that you can not stand to read an opinion that is different than yours? That you feel the overwhelming need to silence it?

The hug offer still stands, but please, my ass is off limits.

Pardon me- but I didn't directly read Davsel say anything outside of the fact that he takes issue with this particular mayor's life choices, and it sounds to me like it has little do with racism or homophobia (or whatever) and more with this guy just doesn't seem to be of good moral character. Does anyone require a butthurtitis booster? I take issue with this mayor- he seems to be of very loose morals and anti-LE (which I really take issue with). On the morals issue- it shouldn't surprise anyone, it seems to be a prerequisite to become a politician these days.

you can always tell the trolls. they know about the ignore list because they are probably on everybodys ignore list on every forum they frequent. which Im sure is their intent. troll everyone and get them worked up.

I started this thread. You chose to involve yourself.
If you do not like "all" of my posts, please ignore them.
I write what I believe, and am not afraid to debate the finer points of my beliefs with anyone.
Resorting to cute name calling like, Melvin, troll, racist, bigot, homophobe, etc, is a feeble (liberal tool) attempt to silence my viewpoint.
I've been called worse by better than you, and it does not bother me in the least.
This thread is in the Politics and Legislation section (obviously). I expect there to be a broader range of opinions expressed here, and I understand that my opinions are considered by many to be extreme.
Again, I have no problem discussing my opinions, and I try to be civil while disagreeing.
If my opinions somehow bother you, you are free to ignore them.
