Stay safe and alert out there folks! Will be a few days before we get the full story on these. The Black Forest one is particularly disturbing to me for a couple of reasons.

A Prius?! Why do you hate the planet? You need to get a Leaf or Volt.

This is sad. Pretty violent too.
Some of the commenters should go back to the 4th grade sandbox and let the adults play. [Shake]

I heard if you pee on them when they kick in your door that they will leave you alone.
Hopefully the 2 dead died in a pile of empty brass.

Got a frantic call from my SIL around 6:30 last night (dark outside). He was at work but my daughter was home at their townhouse alone. Someone was @ their front door banging. She ran upstairs & grabbed her handgun (I told her later that her shotgun would have been a better choice). The front door of their townhouse is about 20 ft. from some trees, brush & overgrown grass of a LARGE undeveloped field. While there is a playground about 100 yards into the field, it's not lit at all.
My son and I jumped in my truck & drove over there as fast as traffic would let us. My son was armed and so was I. While it only took about 10 minutes to get there, there was no one at her door when we arrived. I went inside and comforted my daughter and my son was outside smoking. He saw a cell phone light coming from the field (around the playground). Both my son & I also had SurFire flashlights with us. I sent my son to the left about 15 feet to the left of my daughters door to watch things while I walked up about 75 ft to the right to where I could get past the trees/brush & into the field. I entered the field without a light, but I turned it on after I was about 50 ft into the field. I saw a guy (in his 20's) dressed in all black come out from hiding behind the slide. He knew he couldn't hide from the light of that flashlight. He picked up a green pack and slung it over his shoulder then started walking towards me. In a firm authoratative voice I asked him a few questions about what he was doing out there -- the same sort of questions I would have asked when I played cop for the Air Force (he said he was working out, but the clothes he was wearing weren't really something you'd wear to work out in, and I wonder what was in the bag). He was a well muscled big guy so as he approached me, I put my hand on the grip of my holster gun. Even with the light still on him, I think he saw that and stopped about 20' from me. When I stopped with the few question, he turned and hightailed it away from the townhomes - FAST.
Maybe he wasn't the one banging on my daughters door. Maybe he really was working out. Frankly, I don't think so. While I don't think I related the situation well enough to explain why I feel this way, I honestly beloeve this guy WAS the one banging on my daughters door & I don't think he was in that field for any other purpose than to hide and watch the townhomes. I really believe that guy was up to no good and I'm glad it turned out the way it did. I he was up to no good, I don't think he'll be coming back there any time soon.

wife looked out the window at 3am and there are a ton of cops in BF off of Hodgen between hwy 83 and BF road. turned on the police scanner they have perimeter to Walker road. Someone on the scanner said they found the stolen car fromvtodays homicides. LE is bringing in K9 units and breaking into teams with at least on person having night vision. We are about 3 miles away in a rural area. Wife and I are locked and loaded.

Keep your house locked up, lit up and your favorite defensive tool near you at all times.

I don't doubt that he was looking for a place to get into. Sometimes our best tool is intuition.
Ginsue - thankfully you & your son got there and everyone is safe. Also gave the punk something to ponder during his next workout session.

That is where they got the guy...

Damn scary if you ask me and this was just one guy we're talking about. Imagine if it were more than one and there were no LE?
Glad to hear no one else was hurt...

Or use a pen! Which dolt at the CO Capital said that winning statement, anyway? If you have to use a pen to defend yourself, the bad guy got way too close.
