View Full Version : Holster a good Christmas present for a female? Opinions welcome
I don’t want to divulge too much personal information on this site, but I am thinking about buying a holster for a special someone. She has a CCW and carries semi regularly in her purse. Her carry piece is small enough that I think she should be able to carry it comfortably all day if she had the right holster. I would like some opinions. Do you guys think this is a good present? And also what holster would you recommend? Any females on this form that would like to give some input ?
Hate women carrying in their purse, my wife does and it drives me up the wall. I think it's a great and thoughtful gift but I wouldn't make it the primary gift. Get her something unrelated to gun stuff as well, especially if your trying to date the girl.
Not a good gift unless one of many as HBAR mentioned.

Put something sparkly in that holster (not a gun, unless she has made hints toward that ) and you would be good to go, otherwise you would [fail]
I was going to go into the holster business and custom make them for women, however, after I showed my wife where I thought a good place for the holster would be she told me that she is going to be my only customer [dig]

I got the wife a gun toten mama purse for Christmas (it was on her list). If your girl has a holster on her wish list, then get it. If not get her something she wants, or the holster plus something she wants as mentioned above. Check the concealed carry forum for holster recommendations for women.

Maybe I'm just anal but a holster purchase is personal enough for me that I wouldn't want someone to gift one to me without knowing precisely what I wanted. I'm like this with damn near everything though.

a gift certificate would probably be in order then
I would agree with the above collective...
If you really want to get her a holster, get a certificate from a good company. Then accompany it with something sparkly with no functional purpose except to make her happy. Cards and cut flowers are the dumbest thing in the world besides Obummer, but I still buy them for her sporadically because she loves them. Like I say, learning to "manage" the insanity makes for a happy relationship with your lady, I am still working on it, but I must have done something right based on the greeting I got tonight, just can't for the life of me figure out what it was.[Flower]

You are the best person to answer whether you wife will enjoy or flip out over a holster as a Christmas gift. I could get away with it with my wife but I know what she likes (and dislikes)
rule #1, Keep the wife happy
Rule #2 refer to rule #1

Bunch a pansies. If you want to get her a holster, just do it. Make sure when she opens it, follow up by smacking her butt and tell her to go make you a sammich.
let us know how it turns out for you. :)

Too many men make the mistake of thinking they know what their wife/GF "needs" in terms of a holster and/or gun. You don't know what feels good to her, what's comfortable to her or what's functional to her. Others have said it...if you're gonna go that route, make it a gift certificate unless she's told you exactly what she wants because it's a very personal piece of gear.
Frankly, I wouldn't do it. Buy her something fun.
Yeah,,, a lawn tractor, dirtbike, etc.

Don't understand sarcasm much?
Yep, new holster! Put a bow on it, and strap it on the side of the new vacuum cleaner! You'll be the hit of the day.
Seriously, I don't think I'd do it unless she really wants one and you know just what she wants. And only as a "stocking stuffer" or one of many gifts, certainly not as a primary gift!
I also can't imagine the benefit of a holster inside a purse, unless the holster is ATTACHED inside the purse somehow. I mean, protecting the gun and purse contents is good, but if she NEEDS the gun in an emergency, reaching in the purse and pulling it out with the holster still on it ain't gonna end well. Kinda like a small pistol in a pocket holster - if the holster doesn't stay in the pocket when you draw, then WTF good is it?

You said someone special... If you want to stay in the friend zone than but her a holster.
I think most ladies would prefer jewelry and diamonds to gun stuff, but maybe you have the hottest/coolest chick in America, so you will never know unless you try. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Do it. Dont be a pansy.
Guessing "special" is not wifey. If she's into CCW, and guns, shes likely more practical than girly girls. If you think she'd like it, do it. I know my wife would be mad if I bought flowers, or diamonds for xmas for her FWIW.
The answer has been staring you in the face this whole time. Just ask your wife if she thinks your girlfriend would appreciate the holster.
Yes.
