My son has bought a 300 blackout and I was wondering if anybody here makes their own and if they can tell me what I need as for equipment? What kind of brass is preferred and any do's and don'ts. I also bought a Lee 312-155 lead bullet die will powder coat these bad boys
I make my own. It's a pain. Contact Hoser and he can probably hook you up with some brass.

I have made my own 300 Fireball for a few years. I use PMC or FC range brass that I picked up awhile ago. I form the basic shape in a Redding trim tie, cut off with a cheap harbor freight mini saw, then trim to length with a Lee trimmer. Once it is chamfered I run it through a sizing die and check the length again. It is a pain, but once you form it you can shoot it until you wear it out or lose it.
You could definitely speed up the process with Dillon or Giraud trimmers.

Hoser is the guy. He's made zillions of pieces of brass.

So is it necessary to anneal brass before you load ?

Nope. I don't anneal mine and it seems to work just fine.
I am playing catch up on brass right now. Being out of town for a while got me behind.
I knocked out about 2,400 pcs today and still have about 10,000 pcs left.
I dont anneal. I tried it on a few batches and decided it was not needed.
I like LC and PMC brass the most. I used Lapua brass for my 300 bolt gun. Forming 300 Whisper from virgin 223/222/221 brass is a pain in the ass.

It's not hard, time consuming though.

BTDT, got sick of it and bought a bunch from Hoser, WAY easier to do that since he's made the not insignificant investment into the equipment to do it right and do it fast (not saying it's the only way, but it's the only fast way to do it.

I think I am convinced to pass on trying to make brass. Still have to convince son and a few of has squad mates that it is not worth it. How much does Hoser charge?
Brass is the most "difficult" part of Blackout reloading. To start out, I'd buy the brass from Hoser, run them
through your sizing die, and reload like any other caliber. I like Redding or Forster dies myself, but any in-spec SAMMI die will work.
How much does Hoser charge?
.10 per case.

Thanks KS63 I just saw Hoser's ad on what he is getting for his brass
BTW tmjohnson, Skully has a post in the classifieds that he's selling Blackout ammo for a good price. I'd check with him if it's still available and shoot them through your sons rifle to check for function of you hadn't already. You now have Blackout brass to reload. Good luck.

Hoser, Is that .10 each you supply brass or me. Also what headstamp and is it mixed or all one headstamp. I would be interested in about 2000 LC Wwc or Fc stamps.

That is my charge for converting your brass to 300 Whisper/Blackout and polishing it clean again.
Converted brass for sale is about .20 each.
