Gentlemen,
A friend is putting together care packages for some forward deployed soldiers this holiday season. If you'd be willing to contribute items, please mail them to the address below. Beef Jerky, hygiene gear, snack food, etc are all good ideas. Please DO NOT send money. Shipping is already covered.
SHIP TO:
A. COFFIN
PO box 49701
Colorado Springs CO 80949
These are going out the first week of December so if you want to get some stuff included it needs to get there in the nest two weeks. Any help is appreciated.
Goodies headed out.
You and your friend are good people. Getting stuff from home meant a lot. Even more so around Christmas.

When you say hygiene items, anything specific?

Most of the PXs over here have gone to an "expeditionary" status. Even the USFOR-A Head Quarters has cut way down on what's available. Things like toothpaste, tooth brushes, and deodorant run out a lot.
I'll be sending some things

Some of us prefer to help without being in the spotlight.

Can I send a bottle of crown? If not what would be a good morale boosting item?
I assume they have game consoles over there. Perhaps a copy of Madden, GTA, Ghosts?

Booze?! They would love that, but not worth the risk of getting someone in trouble.

No booze and no porn. Sorry guys but the APO folks get a bit cranky about that stuff if it's caught.

Yeah don't want to get anyone in trouble. For you guys that have been there, around the holidays, what did you REALLY want?

My recommendation is to think of things that might make 18-25 year old's lives either happier or easier. Things like your old gun rags, Stuff, Maxim, paper backs, etc are good for reading material. Candy (that won't melt), Beef Jerky and dip are all winners. Hygiene gear like tooth brushes/paste and deodorant can be great if the PX has run out.
Keep in mind that mail is running about two weeks to the big FOBs and longer to the little COPs. I don't know specifically where these guys are so I don't have a better time estimate than "about two weeks". Just something to keep in mind while you're picking stuff out.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far!

On it's way! Question; I am in Springs often, and it might be easier to drop off. Is that possible? If not no biggie, will drop in a one rate box. If so, shoot me a PM.

Thanks Mick, my daughter missed out on the drive her school had and she was upset, she really wanted to help. We will get some stuff together and ship it down.

WM has hygiene products in travel kits. My local WM (one of 8) has them for under $1. per Package in transit.
This is a nice way to forward all those gun rags, sitting on your shelf.
For the sake of convenience, if anyone is in or near the springs, I can meet up and get your donations to the right folks to save you the trouble of shipping.
I am out of the state right now, but will be back after thanksgiving. Shoot me a PM if you have some things to donate, I will collect them and get it all to the address Mick listed.

Gentlemen,
I waned to say thank you to those who contributed to make this happen. Dan512 and a few other folks all got together the other night and helped the person driving this project pack things up. Here's where they stand right now.
