View Full Version : Trying to escape from LA
Update in post 32: I finally moved!
Hi everybody! New user here. My wife and I are looking for a new state to call home. We're both CA born and raised but we don't want to raise kids here in LA. We hope to make it out to Denver and Colorado Springs sometime soon to get an idea of the different 'hoods. I know California expats are a sore subject for Coloradans, but we are both right-of-center (more libertarian actually) and we are both shooters. The last thing we want is to turn CO into CA.
I'm a Life Member of the NRA and I'm involved in grassroots gun rights organizations here in CA. I followed the anti-gun bills in CO and I was extremely heartened to see how much support there is for gun rights in Colorado. California has a very committed grassroots pro-gun community but we are so outnumbered it's difficult for us to make much of a difference. I was happy to donate to the Morse recall efforts and I'm even happier that those two tyrants were sent packing.
Anyway it looks like you guys have a great community here and I hope that one day I can call myself a Coloradan.

Stay away from the city and county of Denver... Boulder is another weird spot too that you might want to avoid.
You'll love Colorado. I know I do [Flower]
Welcome and enjoy! [Beer]

Welcome, my wife is another California transplant (on the right side as well). I fear I will have to travel back there to visit her family at some point, blah!

Very nice intro. Welcome to the forum!!
Welcome!!!! Here in Colorado we have a balanced budget law for now. It is called TABOR taxpayer bill of rights. The Dems are trying to get rid of it and go around it every chance they get. I guess the idiots want to go into debt like Cali.

Good to know! I hadn't heard of the special-ness that is "city and county of" Denver.

lol that's what I was going for!
Welcome to the forum and good luck getting out of there unscathed
Welcome to the forum from another CA escapee. It took a awhile to get out, i.e. find a job here, but it was worth the wait.
Welcome. You can do it. We left Hawaii and their draconian laws to come out here.

Amen!
Welcome to the boards, happy to have you here as a non-liberal immigrant, lol. (Heard about CO becoming "New CA"?)

Welcome to the board and Colorado. Recommend Colorado Springs, El Paso County specifically. The sheriff is very second amendment and concealed carry friendly, and will also sign off on NFA applications with no issues.

Welcome! You'll find a great community here! We are a little sore about CA folks, but if you're libertarian, I think you'll fit in just fine! [Beer]

Welcome to the forum. Maybe moving to Denver/ Boulder will help with the current uber-left problem... couldn't hurt to add some conservatives to the mix!
Whew, I finally made it out here! The family and I have only been in Colorado for two weeks but so far I love it. Way better than LA (for us) in so many ways. I can't wait to start exploring all this state has to offer.
Ended up in Louisville, which was never on my radar but works out due to job locations. I'm not stoked about Boulder getting my tax dollars but like 3bean said, maybe I can help balance things out a bit. [Dunno]
Hopefully worth the wait.
Glad you made it out. Now you can remove that stupid Bullet Button that turns guns fully automatic.....

Louisville is a great area to be in. Nice little downtown area and just far enough away from Boulder.
Rumline, I see that you like sailing. Longmont Union res has a sailing club.
Awesome I will have to check them out. Thanks for the heads up.
