View Full Version : Timing my permit

I'm taking my course this week and I have some questions on timing.

I am currently a resident in Adams County, but will be moving at the end of April when my lease is up. I'll be moving to either Montrose or Larimer County, or if I find work in the coming 5 weeks I'll be moving to... someplace.

Given the current length of application process, if I were to apply in Adams County this week; I wouldn't see it until the end of June...and who knows where I'll be by then. I don't really want to wait due to the political powers currently in office. On the other hand if I move to, lets say Montana, I probably wouldn't be making a trip back to pick up my permit in CO (and there for wasting $150).

So the question is, should I wait and hope that Obama doesn't do something stupid. Or, should I do it and hope I'm in the state for another 90 days?

How is Obama going to have anything to do with a CCW permit?? If you plan on leaving the state I would not waste your time. If you plan on staying in CO then turn in your paper work it does not matter if you move to a different county. You must notify the departement that issues the permit of an address change other than that it does not matter.

I guess I was thinking that the current political powers could make concealed carry a thing of the past...I'm no political expert, by any means, but that was my line of thought.

If I wait to apply for permit and end up moving out of state, what are the odds that the training from a CO CCW course will be accepted as sufficient training in another state? Obviously, each state will have their own rules and regulations. Just wondering if anyone can make a generalization as to how CO's training requirements stack up with the rest of the country.

Well, if you are trained by an NRA certified instructor, they all probably have to go by the same standard right? You could always just call into the sheriff's office where you move with your info and ask them.

doesn't matter what county you apply in it's 90 days across the board wait time
