I am looking at some grips for this 642 I just picked up, I have read several reviews on the 642 that say wood grips make it more painful to shoot yada yada. This will be a carry gun and not shot a lot so long term comfort isnt a big deal but grips that come on them dont fit my hand well so I am just shopping around. I want smooth for daily carry under a shirt.
Anybody up north have a set similar I can fondle before ordering a set? I dont wanna spend the cash if its not an upgrade.
Something like this.

Those look like Badger grips. I've had them on several compact revolvers over the years. I prefer the "boot grip" model over the one you have pictured but to each their own.
I'm not sure of anyone local that stocks something like that but you can usually find them at the gun shows and the vendors are usually happy to slip them on your revolver so you can see how they look and feel.

I have a hogue mono-grip, somewhere, that's the same overall size as the ones you're looking for. While nice for shooting a few boxes at the range. It definitely increases the Concealed foot print. Those 642's are nice wheel guns.
I just put a set of bantam Hogue grips on my Model 19. Small grips make it easier for me to eject the spent cases during a reload. I'm shooting mostly .38 Spl., so the recoil isn't really an issue.

I was looking at the hogue g10 bantam grips, but I only found green in the $60 range ones. To get tan or black I believe you have to go to the pirrana grip witch is $100+.
