"Our fear is that these firearms are high-caliber firearms that if they got into the wrong hands they could certainly be used in a nasty way."
I'm thinking there's a new bar.
Yep. And someone's been there doing some drinking.

Yeah, those firearms sure look disturbing!
By Australian math, those guns average out at $10K EACH ($3M for 300 guns). I so very dearly wish I'd sold my last .177 pellet gun in Australia instead of on GunBroker....:(
There was some discussion on this over at FALfiles (http://www.falfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=363254) before it turned into an argument as so many threads there are apt to do.
Much of that lot is NOT illegal to own but yes requires registration, of the 300+ there were 70 or so registered. As to the values, yes an unregistered Glock is running $5-10K here among the filth. There has also just been a conviction of a guy who was located about 5km from my place that was making back yard "MAC10s" including a suppressors. The pics I saw showed them Ugly and rough but they functioned. He made around 100 and sold them all to OMCGs (except a couple in a controlled buy to police) for $15K a pop. Two or so years another bust caught a group of Serbs dealing out of a storage Unit, never heard what the MP5s they had were selling for but they were asking the UC Police for $30K for a .303 BREN.

I don't see the problem with owning all that hardware and ammo. I wish my wife would go scuba diving for all the guns that we used to own that fell out of the boat this summer, along with the ammo.
It says "...Glock handguns (plural) worth $10,000". Maybe it's the aggregate value of all the Glocks they confiscated, not just one of them...

"As well as the Glock handguns, the haul contained military-style guns such as AK-47s, MP5 sub-machine guns and rifles featuring telescopic lenses."
MY GOD! The humanity! Think of the children being picked off from miles away with those evil, assault telescope lenses!

No, but my 3/4 will easily pull all 4 tons of ammo and the cache. It's just the matter of fixing some wings to it that has me stumped.
