I want to make a lanyard out of 550 paracord. Does anyone have any experience or styles that they like to use? Also I want mine to be about 15 inches long so how much paracord do I need?

You can also check out this guy's blog. He makes all kind of stuff out of 550 cord.

Anyone ever put a button compass into a bracelet/lanyard?

I used a similar tactic to make a paracord rifle sling for my marlin 795. Fun to build, plus it is useful.

I would imagine it would be all tension in the knot, couldn't imagine it being to hard. Just find the center and make that knot tight. If you have the compass or I can hit up a surplus store this weekend I will make you one.

Thanks. I have some compasses, just haven't had the time to try it yet. I'll likely end up making the knot for fitment, loosening it, then line it with super glue for final placement.

I should have showed you my watch band when I was there. It's a stitch called "blaze bar" and it can be undone in case of an emergency in like 2.5 seconds.

Made this tonight. Compass is larger than I would have liked, and I didn't seat it as well as I could have. With the super glue, the compass shouldn't be going anywhere. Glad I made the fitting loose initially, as after all the stuff I put on there, it now fits a bit tight. The next one should be better.

I think either of these compasses would work better.

And here are some metal S-biners like I used. You can get the S-biners pretty much all over locally.
