Hey guys,
I just got done creating a website designed to help gun owners submit letters and manage contacts for firearm related issues (federal and state bills, and politcal and non-politcal issues). My current goal for the site is to become a central repository for letters and contacts, and to help make it easier for gun owners to get in contact with the right people to make a difference.
I've loaded all of the current gun issues into the system that I can find.
Any feed back would be appreciated.
The website URL is:
http://www.usriflemen.com
Thanks.
That is VERY awesome of you. I've always wanted something like that. You know Gun Owners of America already does this right? I'll book mark your site though, so I don't have to wait for an announcement from GOA.

From what I can see this new site has a few advantages. First, is that users themselves can submit issues, so, as you said, you don't have to wait for an alert - if it doesn't exist you can add it (or someone else may have already added it for you). The second is that you have the option of submitting your own letter for other people to use, and other people can leave comments and feedback on both the letters and the issue itself. The third is that it looks like under each issue you can link to external resources (such as links to the real text of a bill) or community discussions that are already happening about the bill/issue, so if people want they can follow those thinks to find out more, or join the discussion on other well established firearms forums/resources.

There is a problem with the registration page. The first time I attempted to register I have my stat entered correctly, but the required "National House District" drop down was giving me the list for California.
The second try had the right information and was successful.

You should try to work with RMGO.org and hopefully not duplicate efforts. just a thought.

Thanks for pointing this out.
I was using javascript to retrieve a new list of federal and state districts whenever the state was changed. In your case it appeared that the browser may have cached the response, and thats why you end up with California districts.
It was always my intent to eliminate the need for ajax on the signup page, so I have split the signup process into two parts now to eliminate the ajax call. On the first page you now enter your personal information, and the second page you enter your districts. This should ensure that the problem doesn't happen again.

I didn't see where RMGO had anything like this available... I will take another look and see what they got.
Thanks
