Never thought about it before. Many manufacturers offer replacement for failure in fires and/or break-ins but the product needs registered. Name, date of purchase, model and serial number and your address are obvious questions for verification of purchase on the mail in and online forms.

I understand they need this information for records but you never know who could get this same information in the future if...oh say...SOMEONE was looking for guns and follows the trail. Just wondering!

What do you guys do, register or not?

I know damn well who can get this information along with just about anything you do in life. registering is up to you but I have yet to see a safe go bad aqnd in case of fire or break ins the safe did its job and may (probably) covered on your homeowners insurance. The contents of the safe probably not unless you have a rider for them with your insurance company but if you have a rider you go back to the origional question.

Do you have a CCW, Hunter Safety card, purchased a firearm OTC? If yes to any of them, "They" already know you own firearms.

Good points, you don't see many gun safe recalls and the homeowners insurance will probably do better at covering any loss or damage according to terms.

Damn, I just realized NOW they know I asked this question online!

Its a theoretical vulnerability ... but really, there are far more serious threats to worry about. I'd say register 'em.

I register all good with the manufacturer so that if a warranty is offered I will be covered.

I registered my safe. I needed it and was very glad I had.
