There was a segments on Lou Dobbs tonight stating that several members of congress, including a number of Democrats, sent a letter to AG Holder indicating they would not support a renewal of the "assault weapons ban" and that he has appeared to back off.
I think congress is feeling the pressure from us and our letters, calls etc, so we definitely need to keep it up. It was some good news in what is sure to be a long fight to preserve our rights.
ETA: Lou Dobbs has been the only "mainstream" media featuring stories on the assault on the second amendment for several weeks.

you must have missed the part where Dobbs said AG Holder is pushing for the renewal, along with some dem backing.
once aging people forget. Obama DOES NOT need to sign an AWB for it to become law.
The renewed AWB can go to him, he lets it sit there w/out signing it, and after 30?? days it becomes law.
He then says in 2012. I DID not sign any AWB. no but you didn't veto it either....

Actually, If a law sits on his desk for 30 days without a signature, it does not become a law. It's called a "pocket veto".

It needs a majority to get it to his desk. Holder can push all he wants. Without the votes it ain't happening and congress is indicating it is not going to go along on this one. That was the point of the story on the 27th.
No I haven't missed anything, you misunderstand my post jim, in previous segments he has stated that Holder (and now Billary) were trying to use the "Mexican Drug Cartel" angle to drum up support for a renewed AWB.

from the NRA..

Today in a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, 65 Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives, led by Congressman Mike Ross (D-AR), expressed their opposition to the reinstatement of the failed 1994 ban on semi-automatic firearms and ammunition magazines. These congressmen cited numerous studies that proved the 1994 ban was ineffective, and they strongly urged Attorney General Holder to stop his effort and instead focus on the enforcement of existing gun laws.
NRA would like to thank Congressman Ross for his leadership on this effort. We will continue to work with Members of Congress from both parties on this important issue.
I'm glad to see that 65 congress critters are upholding the constitution. I would have liked to seen 65 senators that have sent the letter. We need to keep a certain amount of pressure on until they all feel that way or are out of office. Either way is good for me really.
If the Congress won't push it they will use the AG to make some adjustments to the law. Another way will be to enter into an International treaty with some kind of anti gun conditions, watch the G 20 summit, it will change America for ever.
