I was in the office wrapping up some paperwork after a field job about 3 weeks ago. One of my trainees showed up. I'd just told the boss that the trainee was ready to take on more responsibility.
I invited the trainee back to watch me and see how to complete a job, receptionist said "no, he must stay here".

They laid him and about a dozen others off that day. They'd hired 50+ this summer.

I've been u/e for a year now, but just had a second positive interview this morning for a certain job. This interview was with the regional director, went well, got a good feeling about it.
