Anyone done this with a switch in the cab so you can turn it off if you want?

Like back up sensors? And you want to turn off if you have a trailer?

Should be straight forward. Power it with the reverse lights, but put a normally closed relay in line that you can activate with a switch to kill power so it never comes on with switch on.

What's the point? Do you have some sort of job where you need the backup alarm?

No, I have a topper and can't see sometimes out the rear. How do I get the wires inside the cab? its a Tacoma P/U

On many trucks, there are rubber grommets you can go through under the door sill plates. If not, get a grommet from the hardware store and drill a hole.

Not trying to be a smart ass, but I can seldom see out the rear view mirror of my company truck. Not a big deal to use the side mirrors when backing up. Best bet is to utilize "pull through" parking whenever possible. In other words, try avoid having to back up at all.

As far as a back up siren you can shut off, I would wire the siren in at the back of the vehicle an run the positive wire off a backup light and run the ground wire into the cab and to a toggle switch an then to ground. In other words, use the toggle switch to turn the ground on or off as needed.

As far as how to get the single wire from under the truck into the cab, it's kind of hard to say without seeing it. There is probably a rubber grommet somewhere on the bottom of the cab or maybe the firewall (that's the "bulkhead" for you GM guys. GM doesn't like to use the word "fire" when talking about its vehicles.) that you could easily poke one wire through with no problems.

Good luck.

Sounds like he wants SONAR and not an audible alarm for people outside the truck??

My bad yeah back up lights derp.

I sure would have hated to be behind you on 1-25 during rush hour if you had a back up alarm wired to your brake lights, it might have caused a road rage incident, and I would have to use an insanity plea...........[Tooth]

Camera is next, that would be balls. I hate backing up even when I run and look in back, people are morons with or without kids, they let em just walk right in back of the truck. Etc.

Wire in a backup alarm triggered by your backup lights, like was mentioned earlier, then wire in a weather-proof toggle switch back by your tailgate, inside the bed so you can turn it off when not needed.
