View Full Version : 22-250 on a Lr-308 reciever
I'm thinking about building an Ar in 22-250. Every thing I read guys make it sound like it would be a huge pain in the a$$. Is there something that I'm missing other than having a barrel chambered. I'm not looking for a debate on the 22-250, just wondering if there are other problems with this thought.

Oly did a 22-250 on a .308 frame , why couldn't you? I predict crimped mags, like they do to .40 mags to feed .357 sig.....maybe a modified feed ramp, and of course the barrel. otherwise it is the same shell diameter as a .308 so the bolt and stuff would be the same. I'm just undereducated guessing, but i think it could work............in fact I kind of want one.
Oly does make one, but you have to use their lower. The mags wouldn't have to be modified as I've tried 22-250 in .308 p-mags. I hadn't thought about the feed ramp, but with the .243, 7 mm-08, and others all using the same platform I would guess that that shouldn't be a problem either. I guess my next call needs to be to Mark Channlyn and find out wait times for a barrel, and what else a guy would need to make this happen.

I didn't know theirs was specific to their lower.....but then I've only seen them on the internetz. I still think it would be cool as shite, let us know the results. I have told myself my next major firearm related purchase is going to be a reloading setup so probably won't be any new rifles to my collection for a while :(
