So i used to own a g35,g22,g23 and got completely out of the 40sw. I hate the round period. HOWEVER, i think it should be wise to have just one incase of ammo shortages blah blah blah. So i'm a glock/cz bigot through and through but have always wanted the new SWMP. I have found some killer prices on em. Which one should i get???

Personal preference I say go glock, but I'm just not a smith fan.

While I'm typically a Glock guy when it comes to polymer handguns, the M&P are some very nice pieces. You probably can't go wrong either way. If you want to stay with stuff that is pretty much the same, go with the Glock. If you want to mix things up a bit and have something different, get the M&P.

Voted for M&P40. I thought I loved Glocks, then I handled/shot an M&P40c and it became my new favorite gun. When I used to swear I'd never sell my Glock 23, I am at the point now where I would sell it in a heartbeat and keep my M&P40c. Granted, I won't sell it because I don't need to, but still.

i'm thinking i'll try an mp. That's why i posted this...looking for that magic post for me to change my mind. The other reason, is that a mp40 will give me a distinction against calibers...

If you're able to, shoot one first. The M&P has a heavier trigger pull, but the distance is shorter so it feels light. The Glock has a lighter trigger pull, but the distance is longer so it feels heavier. Its weird, but I can tell a vast difference between my Glock and M&P40c and I like the M&P trigger more.

As BuffCyclist said, the M&P trigger feels pretty different than the Glock. I actually like both! If the comparison is only between a Gen 3 Glock and an M&P, then I'd vote for the M&P because of the changeable backstrap pieces.

As always, though, which one do you naturally point better? Shoot better? etc...

well, looks like my used smith supply at aims has dried up...onto g2x's again...

Personal opinion: Glock.

I just bought my fiance an MP9C for CCW (she felt the grip fit better in her hand than a Glock or a SA). We took it out last weekend, & I just can't stand the trigger. Just as much take-up, but it's heavier and "funkier" to me. Reset is about the same, but I think the Glock has a slight advantage in travel and crispness.

YMMV

I voted Glock. The M&P's are great pistols, and i'd have no problem owning or carrying one. I've owned the M&Pc in 9,40 and 357sig, and thought they were all great (still think the 40c is one of the softest shooting 40's i've ever shot). At the end of the day tho, I like the Glock trigger and grip better (yeah I know rare breed).

I love my Glock 22, so that gets my vote, but I am unfamiliar with the Smith.

Glock ...... better trigger

Not really- granted in stock form a MP trigger is about like dragging a piano across a dirt road but they clean up very nicely.
The one thing you can get with the MP is a clean, crisp break. You can get close with a Glock but never really crisp.

I like and owned both. sold the M&P since the wife wanted uniform handguns in the home. I did the apex trigger gig and it improved it noticeable. The biggest question, which one has more affordable / available magazines.
Either way you can't go wrong.

Having some experience with both, I have to agree with the almighty on this one. Box stock, the Glock probably has a slight edge. With a little work, it's the M&P with the crisper break and lighter feel.

I pretty regularly get comments about competing with my M&P40c at IDPA matches. It's pretty much the only gun I've really shot extensively with, so I can't compare it to others to tell you if it shoots "soft" or not. I do well enough with it though. The only mods I have are a stippled back strap and a broken ambi slide release.

I voted Glock despite owning M&Ps. Magazine scarcity is a pain in the ass.

This was another biggie for me. I couldn't find "low capacity" ten round mags, let alone the scary "high capacity" one's, not so with the Glock. I posted on here recently, looking for G19 mags, and had PM's from three different members.

Go with the M&P! I've put 75,000 flawless rounds through my Glock and that piece of junk is starting to show some signs of wear. [Coffee]
