I just purchased a Post Ban Bushmaster M4 and would like to customize it. Looking for pretty much any and all opinions at this point. Looking for help with specific brand and the pro and cons. Assume everything will stay black at this point.

First since it has a fixed handle, thoughts on a scope.

Second, quad rail options to add acc's (laser, light, fore grip etc) as time goes by.

Third, grip choices??

Fourth, I like the look of the skeleton stock, am i going to regret it? will the cheek piece on my original telestock be a better choice?

Fifth, magazine choices? In the past with my Mini I had problems with aftermarket stuff fitting, is this still the case? Does one brand shine over the others?

Lastly, anyone actually stock this stuff in Denver? No one seems to offer anything off the shelf.

I know there was some debate over 5280 on your site (since I live in Arvada that would be great). and they seem to have really weird and sporadic hours, are they worth the wait for parts or should I just order them online.

Thanks in advance for the insight!

Welcome to the board.....

Hard to say what "you" should get, really depends on what you plan on using your rifle for. Everybody has their prefs and I'm sure you'll get something then decide you want to try something else.
Look in the Photo Gallery at the various builds in the EBR thread, that will give you ideas and if you're interested in the parts I'm sure they'll give you the details.

First since it has a fixed handle, thoughts on a scope.
Not sure what optic to mount on a handle as I have a flat-top.

Second, quad rail options to add acc's (laser, light, fore grip etc) as time goes by.
I have a LaRue 7.0 HG that I like but there are lots of others that make nice HG's (Daniel Defense, Troy, YHM, Midwest Ind.)

Third, grip choices?? Currently using a Magpul MIAD grip that I like a lot as I have big hands. I also have an ERGO on my other that is compfy.....this is where you'll just have to see what you like.

Fourth, I like the look of the skeleton stock, am i going to regret it? will the cheek piece on my original telestock be a better choice?
I like collapsible stocks, again this is where you'll go with what you like.

Fifth, magazine choices? In the past with my Mini I had problems with aftermarket stuff fitting, is this still the case? Does one brand shine over the others? IMO, Pmags are the way to go, very durable and you'll want to stock up on Mags if you can.

Lastly, anyone actually stock this stuff in Denver? No one seems to offer anything off the shelf. Others will have to chime in as I live in CoSpgs, but I hear Denver has some good stores.

As I said before it depends on you and what you will be using it for, best to go to a shop and get the feel of these items if you can........You'll probably decide to try something else out to get to where you want.......I did.

Good Luck!

I personally don't like optics mounted on A2 rifles, but what exactly is your goal? if you are looking for anything other than a red dot optic I would pass on the scope. I think they sit way to high to be of any value. I'm sure there are others that disagree, YMMV.

as far as rails go, if you are on a budget, you cannot beat YHM. they are about half the cost of daniel defense, larue, etc and of great quality. I like their diamond pattern rail. I bought my brother a 12" diamond rail for his 20" rifle for his birthday and install was easy (gotta have the correct tools). I've got a daniel defense 7" rail on my SBR and it is awesome too.

Just about any major name in rails will have good results.

Grip- Magpul MIAD by far. I've had g27's, houge and some others, and I will never buy another type of grip again. Very comfortable grips and have interchangable back and front straps.

I'm not sure which skeleton stock you are referring to, but my only complaint with that style is you lose the ability to collapse the stock. Not a big deal, just something to consider.

magpul PMAGS or any USGI type mag will be fine. 44mag.com has the best prices on USGI mags, around 12 bucks a mag.

There are a few people around town that stock AR parts/accessories. Bowers tactical is not an FFL but always has a great selection of parts/accessories. the gun room off of colfax also has a good selection.

There are others around I'm sure someone else will chime in.

GOOD LUCK!

I was just in Specialty Sports in Colorado Springs on saturday. THey had a really good selection of Tapco and Magpul stocks and lots of different styles of forends in stock. They are a tad more expensive than getting it off the internet, but hey after shipping, it's about the same anyway.

And they have all the tools to install the accessories, if you don't. I bought a quad rail hand guard awhile back from them, and the owner was nice enough to instal it for me while I waited. I mean shit, I'm a journeyman gunsmith, but I really appreciated the gesture.

Super nice people, once you do alot of business with them, they'll really do what they can to help you out.
