So I am in the process of getting started in reloading 300 BLK. I have looked at pulled M80 projectiles, but with pulled 7.62x39 projectiles be half the cost, I would like to go that route. I do under stand the difference in size and that they may need to be sized.

Does anyone know a good source for the pulled 7.62x39 projectiles?

If you want plinking ammo I use 110gr rd nose with really good success. You can pick up 500 for about $50.

That train left over a year ago. They do not need to be sized in most cases. Many that have sized them report the accuracy goes out the window. My load using Golden West 123 grn X 39 bullets (309.5 dia). Hoser brass, 18gr H110, #41 primer, Light crimp. this runs 2240 FPS out of a PSA 16" 1-8 barrel and as accurate as my 110gr Vmax loads.

Since I load for both 300blk and X39 I tried them because I had them. They run great out of both but .308 bullets in a true AK barrel will get you normal talked about groups in an AK but then that is what wolf uses in their ammo. [Shock][Puke]

I just bit the bullet so to speak and know that loading for it is going to cost compared to all those 147gr .308 bullets that were $55 per K just 7 years ago. [panic]

Will the round nose cycle through a ar? I have completed the upper yet, but it will be a 8.5" barrel with a can.

Supposed to be but pull a bullet out of Wolf ammo and report back. [LOL]Most bullets that you can buy for the AK are .309.5-.310.5

It sounds like the surplus has dried up then? That's disappointing because I was getting my hopes up to reload load 300 BLK dirt cheap to run it hard.

What most buy and shoot through an AK and then report that it shoots like a shotgun on the net 1000's of times. [beatdeadhorse][Coffee] So few load for it but it has to be one of the top 10 that one would see a result from handloading VS buying ammo. [Flower]

I have a bunch of reloadable brass case, boxer primed 7.62x39. I couldn't give it away. I'd like to see affordable components for the caliber, but when one can buy it from AIM and other outlets.

Lurch did you slug your barrel or just hope for the best?

I have a few 147 pulls to work through but the supply is slim

I like the 120-130 grain .310 offerings but am kind of nervous to try it through my barrel

From what I have read, most guys who are running the .310s are not haveing any issues. Although some are haveing some chambering issues.

I would just like to get a small quantity to test before I go buy 1000.

For just to try the .310 let me know. I can send a few Hornaday that are .310. The Golden West were great bullets but they are no longer around.

When I got out of X39 I sold 6K of bullets, 5K of brass and 16lbs of powder. I did keep some behind because I do have the one gun in it. Nobody wanted the old small-primer brass so I have 800 pieces or so. I had a source that I was buying brass for $80 per K and sorting it. Selling the extra on Ebay for good $$. Blaster Bob bought the last of my Lapua brass.[Flower]

The Vmax .310 bullets shoot very well out of my AK and 300bk.

After all this AK talk I would say that I myself had no problem trying the lighter bullets (123gr) that were up to .310 as long as they were all copper jacketed. If I were going to run the pulls I would want to slug the barrel and measure the thickness of the bi-metallic jacket.

I would hate to be cheap in the beginning only to wind up with a barrel that now wants only .310 bullets because once you wear through the copper it is steel on steel going down the pipe. Just a thought. [Beer]

I bought several thousand of the Z-Max AK bullets for my 300. Final price was dirt cheap.

Although I did have to run them through a C&H .3085 bullet size die. They work excellent now. Still plenty accurate, but the pressures are much lower.

And running a copper/lead bullet through a sizing die works fine. I think some of the guys running the pulls are getting a spring-back from the bi metallic jackets IMO.
