How Durable are Luminox Watches? Specifically the polycarbonate or carbon reinforced watches.

I looked at a couple of the other watch threads here on the forum and didnt see the answer. I havent worn a watch in years. Like many of you who wear a cell phone 24/7. The thing is I havent carried a cell phone in 7 years and I have just now realized how often I walk all the way through the house to check the time. Or I am yelling to my wife or kids to tell me the time. Or Im outside working or down reloading and lose track of time.

I want to buy a watch.

I am not buying a watch that cost more than $300. I hate digital. I dont need it to have a calculator, do calculations for a moon landing, etc. I just want a watch that is TOUGH and DURABLE. I like the Luminox watch styles. I like the super bright illumination.

The problem is I cant seem to find reviews on how durable the plastic cases are. Many of their watches of the sub $300 price range are made out of carbon reinforce poly carbonate or just poly carbonate.

If anyone has one and has an opinion on it, let me know. Especially anyone who works outside, turns wrenches, etc. I need a tough watch and I dont want to have to replace it anytime soon.

I've had three VERY durable watches: Luminox original, Casio Pathfinder, and Casio G-Shock.

the Luminox can handle one grenade blast but not two. Before that it handled 15 months in Iraq.

the pathfinder still works after being tossed off a truck and thrown down a mountain (with me still attached). The batteries died, though.

the G-Shock has yet to stop. It has survived 5 IEDs, a 'few' grenades, and more than 17 months in A-Stan. It's solar powered, which is nice.

Since it seems whatever you end up will simply act as a timepiece and little else, assuming you don't care much about the accessory/bling aspects of a watch, I'd just get a G-shock that you like the look of. Look around on Amazon...They're very durable and can be had for under $100 depending on the series.
