Picked up a used M&P 45. I've owned an M&P Pro in 9mm, plus a 9C, so I'm pretty familiar with these pistols and like them. It will be getting an Apex Forward Set Sear upgrade shortly to make it more 1911 like.

I originally passed on the M&P 45 for an FNX 45, but haven't quite connected with the FNX yet. Sights need regulating (shoots high and right), but saw the M&P sitting at a LGS and it came home with me.

Came with three 10 round magazines and looking at picking up a couple of 14 rounders. I've heard varying opinions on the 14 round magazines, but would like to get your experiences with them.

Understand that the fit between the extended sleeve and grip isn't the greatest, but more concerned about reliability to feed.

I've got one and have no complaints. The 14th round was really tight when I first got it. You have to push really hard if the slide is forward. When I finally got tired of that I filled it up and left it for a couple nights at a time and was able to break it in. It's much better now.

Edit: I remembered I have a photo of mine. Enjoy the ridiculousness.

Nice. Thanks for the pics. I can see the gap folks talk about, but not sure what the big deal is. It does give it a very distinctive look.

Had the same problem filling my 15 round magazine on my FNX but used your technique and it is less of a pain.

The gap is very important. Since the spring pushes back in that direction you need to be able to feed it in further and it needs some slack. There's no gap on the extensions I have for my compact and those things require some work to push in because I'm now compressing the plastic.
