View Full Version : what 14.5 middy?
After about 15000 rounds I'm looking to replace my current upper I want a 14.5 middy gas system but what one?
The main thing for me is reliability it has to be able to run everything from .223 wolf that's been sitting in a field for a year to mk 318 SOST
I'd prefer a lw profile and chrome lined
Right now I'm leaning to dd because there last barrel has held up so well and been so reliable for me but I'm willing to look at other barrels
Oh and I'm just looking at barrels I'll piece together my own upper

DD stick with quality
Can't go wrong with BCM, DD, Noveske

I was looking at some of the bcm barrels there 14.7 so you can use a standard length flash hiders I like that a lot the noveske stuff is also very nice looking will they eat steel like the dd barrel has done for me?
I change my shit too much to go with 14.x"... I'll stick with a 16"

I went through about 10 muzzle brakes before I decided I like the standard a2 bird cage the best :)

Noveske polygonal barrel will eat steel cased ammo, so I would give it a try after you had a DD
What barrel do you have now, in case I need to buy it from you at a later date?

Dd 14.5 with pinned battlecomp 1.5 :)
That's just broken in for a quality barrel like that
I'm wanting to retire it as my primary hd upper.....main reasons I want a middy bad there much softer shooting then carbine gas.....and I want a keymod rail I'm stuck with the rail I got because I have a vltor vis upper
New build should look like
14.5 middy barrel
A2 extended muzzle brake
13.5 bcm keymod rail
Wmd NiB bcg
Vltor mur upper
I had a 14.5 middy for a while. I liked it a lot. Actually, mine was a 14.7" barrel. That length allows you to mount a standard A2 flash hider (or anything that size) to make the legal limit.

I've currently got a DD 14.5 chf middy with the pinned battlecomp (in a Mega MTS upper).....It's super light and smooth as butter.

Does it eat steel case ammo ok?

don't know, I haven't put any steel case through it....it hasn't had any problems with the random stuff I have fed it though (even with a tuned down gas system)...

I'm going to start another build soon and have been toying with a 14.5" upper. No real reason other then I don't have one. Does anyone sell a 14.5" with a pinned battlecomp and pinned lopro gas block already installed?
