^^^ your marks are more than likely aluminum and the touch up will not take. Use some bore cleaner instead. Let it sit a long while and eventually the marks will lift/ fade.
This is why I use a slug of copper and not aluminum, leave a mark and a little bore cleaner and Poof!
All gone!

thanks for the tip, i'll give it a shot. I still need some touch up on the bare spots that were under the stock sight. The bare spots made it pretty easy to center the new sight.

Started on a 38 Special 1911. Doing some basic fitting of safeties and other small parts. Hopefully get it off to a gunsmith in a few months.

Are you going to have it set up for wad cutters only? I would think the magazines would be tough for a rimmed cartridge. Sounds like an awesome project gun.

Yup. 148gn wadcutters only. A blowback 1911.

S&W has / had a 39 spl WC semi. Had the opportunity to shoot 1 back east. If one was affordable, it would be added to the collection.

I finally started sorting gear and cleaning guns from the Steel Safari. The bolt on my .260 had both ejector and extractor issues. Funny how that stuff never crops up in practice, only matches. Hoser fixed the ejector and the bolt is headed to my smith for a new extractor.

Three days of lying in muddy sand made for quite a lot of dirty gear. My poor Leica Geovids were packed with crap.

Tell me about it, I've been going through my gear since I got home yesterday, guns were the first thing taken care of, I've been messing with gear and brass since then.

See if you don't clean them then you never have to worry about getting them dirty. I shot the cup and the steel safari and still haven't touch it. Bolt is a little gummy so I will touch it up for Quiet Riot in 2 weeks

A lot of guys were bitchen' about the SS at the Colo. Freedom shoot today. Apparently the skeeters are awake, as are the rattlers. See? Good thing I didn't go.

Hey MarkCO, I know you are familiar with the Versamax, my Nordic charging handle came out of my shotgun bolt at the Freedom Shoot. We found it (thanks, Collin!), and today I took it all apart, and it seems to be retained fine, but I can't figure out why it fell out. Any thoughts?
It was laying right next to the staging table for a 3 gun stage starting with the shotgun, it shot the stage fine, after the run I put into the bag, and it was missing when I got to the next stage. It takes a fair amount of force to pull it out of the bolt.

Were you shooting Prairie Storm or a magnum 2-3/4"? Those are sometimes the culprit. Or, you just did not get it bottomed in the detent.

Made this DIY bucket swamp cooler just for fun. I think I'll make another one with my neice for her science fair project, then make a solar generator with my daughter for her project, then run the cooler with the generator to secure the win. It works okay, not cooling down the whole house by any means, but nice to sit near. The most important part is getting your drip line to drip at a pace that keeps your media wet. Originally I wanted to get a 6" fan and run it from a right angle 6" PVC so it could be directional. I decided to do this at the last second and just went with what Home Depot had. As far as the combined science fair project, I think mounting the solar panel to the roof of the dog house, the charger in the dead space in the ceiling, and the cooler on the outside blowing in through a hole in the wall would be a sure winner. A solar powered air conditioner for the dog house? In what school wouldn't that be a winner? Who cares if the dog never uses the dog house?

2 3/4 Federal target loads. Same thing I always shoot with this gun. It fell out AFTER the third stage was shot.
It actually takes a fair amount of prying to get it to come out on purpose. It's in there nice and tight right now, so it's a mystery. I'm thinking I'll pick up another one in case it happens again.

Made a shot shell holder for the break down 22lr/20ga rifle.

Holds 9 rounds of 20 gage and fits in the storage bag. Or 8x 20 ga and ~50 of 22lr.

Constructed of 3/4 pvc pipe.

Heck, it's been forever, so I thought I'd give it a go...cleaned three rifles after sighting-in-extravaganza yesterday. New peep sights on the Henry Golden Boy, Browning model 92, and moved a Leopold 1x4 to an AR15.
I need smaller peep apertures. Better than buckhorns though.

Also, continued the ongoing effort to organize, clean up, consolidate, etc. the gun-cave. OMG, will this never end? Don't answer that. I don't want to know.

Pulled the sway bar bushings on my truck and lubed them and reinstalled them. No more embarrassing creak/squak noise.

Then broke out the wood working tools and made my wife a couple of pine boxes for her soap making hobby. Even stained them and everything.

Was as going to mow but it rained here last night and with the cooler temperatures and general lack of sunshine I deemed it too wet to mow today.

Wish some of my firearms were dirty so I could clean them. Unfortunately, they are all squeaky clean.

Spent a good 30+ minutes yesterday with Justin looking for some 240 gr B/Out bullets in a white box, Big John gave me. No luck. John stops by today, ask him what box they were in. A Red HORNADY box. Oh... Opened component cabinet BAM RIGHT THERE. Now if i could locate that AK.

Put a new 7.5 inch barrel in the M-16. Still would not run in full auto with a can. Finally narrowed it down to bolt bounce.

Played with buffer weights and now it runs like shit through a goose. The muzzle blast is not that bad with a can but a FA rated 223 can is a bit heavy. Chicks dig it.

Ran a buddies select fire (RDIAS equipped Bushy) 7.5" without a can. What a riot.

Weight on the buffer ? I have 2 projects going, neither anything important. Except an 80% block on the mini-mill.

I did not think she could keep it under $600 much less under $500(considering she started out wanting a $200 KA hand gaurd (used) that would have required different gas block and front sight.

Santa brought me a LAW Tactical M-16/AR-15 folding stock adaptor and I mounted it on my M-16 this morning.

Things were fine until I realized it won't work with either a 9mm or 22 top end which are the full auto top ends I mainly use. You have to run a standard type bolt carrier, no ifs ands or butts.

So.... I yanked it off and put it on one of my SBR lowers.

It is well thought out, looks up solid as a rock and is well made, but the no 22 or 9 made it a no-go for me.

Pulled the 8 3/8 barrel off my Smith Model 27 and put a 5 inch trooper barrel on. Looks much better.

Getting the barrel pin out of the frame was much easier than I thought it would be.

Nobody working in the shop these days?

Replaced broken ejector in my RIA. Part from Armscor/RIA backordered forever it seems, Brownells got it to me in 3 days.

Pushed out the pin, dropped new one in, not even close. WTF. I ordered two to have one in parts bin for next time it breaks so I went after it with the dremel.

Not a fan of having to hand fit parts(afraid I will mess up something else in the process) but very pleased with results.

Slapped a cheapo magwell on the Canik to see if I like it before spend $75+.

Finally think I killed the FTE gremlin on my .22 bullpup. Only had a few minutes to test but ran 5 mags smoothly. Usually lucky to get thru a mag with out a stove pipe.

Need to run it for couple hundred rounds to see how it does dirty.

Looking forward to some Steel Challenge practice with it.
