Looking for the cheapest NEW Polyethylene 55 Gallon Barrels for water storage. Ive found them at Sportsman Warehouse for $60.00, but they should be around a bit cheaper. Anyone know?

Well, you may be able to clean them, but on craigslist you can get the blue or black for $20.00

I don't want any bacterial issues, its worth the extra $100+ bucks for me.

A little bit of bleach will solve any bacteria issues. And its handy later in water treatment or laundry. If you're real paranoid stop by a home brew supply house and get some of their keg sanitizer.

I'm leaning there, but, does anyone rotate water from used 55 gallon barrels and drink it?

I got 4, I dont use. These used to hold concentrated food.. one smells like vanila. You know where my old house is.. Those drums are in the back. Bring your truck!

To be honest, if your intend is to store water in a round drum, be prepare to have alot of dedicated space. I went with a couple 400 gallon water containers due to space. Each has a footprint of 2 of the 55 gallon drums but store almost 8x. Look into 375 gallon tote too. It has the same footprint of 4 x 55 gl drum, but store almost double the amount.

Rotation is unnecessary assuming the container was good to begin with. But I've drank water 5 or moee years old without ill effects. Searching only twitched a little.
