Those are some ugly looking suckers!! lol..... Look up "kilovictor", he just did a complete rebuild of one. Know's all the "parts" guys in the area.

She looks pretty complete, and little rust from what i can see.

Ohhh me likey! My second vehicle was a '74 Scout II, that thing was a tank, and the most fun vehicle I've owned to this day.

I've owned a 73 and 78, what year is that one??

I love Scout II's, back in the day my dad was a mechanic for IH. I had a 77 in the 82 Christmas blizzard, I was out before anybody breaking trail through Aurora.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the title.

An old Scout, sheesh, there is still some left on this planet that hasn't completely rusted away yet?

[Coffee]

Wonder if that is the stock International "Baby blue" paint job. They are tough old birds, but hard to find a decent condition one.

It is a 73 with a v8. Drove it on the trailer, and just got it running enough to drive it off. Carb needs some TLC.

Friend in college had one with a 502 out of a Cadillac swapped into it. Actually, I'm pretty sure he sells reloads at the gunshows. I haven't seen him in years though.

IT'S A BINDER!

Oddly enough the most sought after replacement part, is the rear window assy. The hinges rust out like clock work. Mine was a 79. Would like to score an 80 with the diesel . I still have the front hub tool for them.

Well, kinda... 4WD. Hi and Lo of course.

That blue is the same color as my dads old truck, his CB call name was "Blue Binder". My 77 started rusting through by the time it was five years old. The 79's had the first diesel then in 80 it was turbocharged. It was an inline 6 made by Nissan. The 80 was the last year it was made and it was the only year with square headlights.

This one is a '73 with a V8, tomorrow I will determine if it is the 304 or the 345. It is going to get tires, battery, rebuild carb, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, change out fluids check linkages (it doesn't want to go into 4HI, but 4Lo is ok) and then drive it for a while to make sure it is good. Then see if I can find it a home. I got it stupid cheap. Flipping it may be fun.

I might know who you bought that from. Did he have a yard of them?

Most likely a 304. 345 wasn't til later. Four speed would be a T18 with a D20 T'case. D44 rear and a D30 or D44 front. Looks like usual rust. How do the floorpans look?

That is my favorite grill style.

Lemme know if you need parts. I know people.

I know who your talking about. You went to CSoM? It was a Caddy 500 and I think I know who built it.

Edit: Probably a Holly 2300 carb. Unless the base is warped, just get a re-build kit for it. I'm betting on #63 jets. Try some low #50s.

Hands down the best upgrade to the motor is a Pertronix Ignitor to replace the points.

You probably know him better than I do then. He lived with some guys right before they lived with me. I hung out there all the time, but never saw him again after that year.

Haven't seen him in a few years. I did buy some of his family's reloads but that was a while ago.

Nope. Not him. It was in front of a double wide being sold by a young lady. Her dad had bought it 5 years ago when he had a good job and money and was going to fix it up. He shortly there after lost his job. So it has sat for 5 years. It was clearly not prepped to be sitting. Jets are fouled up and it doesn't spray when you hit the gas pedal. That could in my shop in the last pic is all from it. But it did run clean when I drove it on to the trailer up there. Could also be the 30 mph winds blowing away all the smoke too...

Lucky. A rare day without wind in WY.

Nice score!

I still have my '74 Scout II half cab. It is a straight 6 258. I had always wanted the V8, but when I replaced the motor with a newer 258 and a 2 barrel carb, it had all the power I needed. I have been thinking about getting it worked on and finishing it, but my '56 takes all the funds from it.

Just because it "followed" you home does not mean you can keep it. You will have to promise to feed it, and walk it.

I had a blue '78 Scout II with white stripes. Selling it was the stupidest smart thing I've ever done.

I kinda want to get it running and then play with it a bit first.

The landlord here at the shop used to have a Scout as a plow truck, and I used to drive it. Getting rid of it and putting the plow on his Wagoneer was the worst decision he ever made.

When you get it running, drive it by my place. I want to see how loud my wife can scream when she sees it.

It's likely not house broken, its gonna leak all over the house. And just wait till it goes into heat.

Nice find, good vehicles. I think there are fiberglass replacement bodies for it now.

My brother had a 78, same color blue, orginally had the 196 4, swapped in a 392 v8 punched out. Thing had some torque.

It was donated to boys and girls club and went to auction.

If anyone sees it somewhere, I might be interested in getting it back, brother misses it.

Well, sorta. Those things get shitty MPG. My old '78 would get 10.5 miles to the gallon no matter what. If you drove it off a cliff, as the wheels windmilled during the long fall, the MPG would shoot up to 11

Yeah, not a real cornering sports car there. Interesting that you've got it running. So .... what did that test drive cost you in gas? $2.25 ? Hehe.

Um. As a resident of Colorado it is my understanding that to purchase high capacity mags in another stat and transport them to CO would be against the law. I would never do such a thing.
