View Full Version : Muzzle Break Pin Removal
I got a great deal on a Rock River Operator 2 a couple months back, and the rifle was purchased in New Jersey and has a pinned muzzle brake. Is it possible to get the brake removed without the threads or Brake being damaged? And if so who would anyone recommend close to Colorado Springs? I want to be able to throw a 1/2-28 to 5/8-24 Adapter so I can run my AAC Cyclone on both my bolt gun and AR.
Generally not possible to save the brake.

Typically this is the case but I have been able to nibble out pins before and salvage the brake. It just depends on if I can pick up the pin on the mill. It varies from manufacturer to manufacturer how they pin them, some just pin straight in relative to the bore and usually they can be saved, if they pinned it adjacent to the bore they can be tough and usually I have to spin them in the lathe to sneak the pin out.
I can definitely save the threads on the barrel however.
Brakes are cheap, barrels aren't.
I can make the adapter as well.
Well thats to bad the brake will most likely be damaged, thats what I figured. You never no when a gunsmith will bust out some jedi mind tricks. LOL. Thanks for the response BP Tactical, I will be in touch hopefully sooner than later to get this god forsaken pin removed, and pick up a 1/2-28 to 5/8-24 adapter.
Burt has successfully saved my old brake he'd be your best shot
